I just don't understand why they won't ask us gamers for help?
      Why not release smaller games?
Are they adopting an Indie development model?

It's never too late, I just wish I knew what DD is/was thinking.

Those two articles are just bits of info "copy/paste journalism", the big article with the big info is here. It paints an ugly picture and quite honestly even though it is only one side of the story, I have a hard time doubting a lot of it given how things have been.

I just finished reading that whole article, thank you Maaw for posting this.
I can't believe that all of that was happening during the games production, but the signs are there and we can't ignore them.

SK really needs help if this is all true. Maybe making games is not that fun anymore for DD.
I guess we will find out when the next gen consoles come out.

A quick search on LinkedIn and I've already found over 10 different people currently employed at SK, I'm sure you could find more if you just looked around a bit. I'm not saying that disproves many of the accusations made by the anonymous ex-employees, but I get the feeling this article is filled with a little too much anger and emotion to be a faithful representation of what really went down there the last couple of years.

And according to my own linkedin I'm still head of domestic sales for my old company.

That and at the end of the day it's not like we'll ever get another side to this story. We have here a company who has 0 interest in communicating with the people who buy their product unless it's to rage at us on other forums.... so at this point, pass. I'll pass on about anything SK does unless it's TH2, not that I think they'll ever release another game.

I am well beyond giving SK benefit of the doubt anymore. If they want to say it didn't go down like these 8 sources laid it out there are plenty of people who would write the article, and they already refused comment in this one. I am not surprised at all if everything in house was a mess considering the results, especially when I consider how poorly they have handled basically every aspect of community management and marketing for the past half decade. It would just show this wasn't the only area they had no idea what to do with.

We all know there isn't going to be any rebuttal. There has been silence for about 4 years outside of some garbage pub posts for Destiny or random ineffectual stuff that completely ignored what was going on, which pretty much sounds like what the article says was going on with the game production. It was always "the trail" as to why they couldn't comment on the issues and that has been done for months and still there has been nothing. It has been a dramatic fall and it seems that SK might have just hit a bottom that there isn't a way to climb back from.

Yeah, let's look at both sides of this...oh, wait, there's only one side.

And the existence of X-Men Destiny pretty much confirms the whole shebang.

I wish I could say I was surprised. I've heard grumblings about this sort of culture/operating model in use at Silicon Knights over the years. While I try to keep an open mind about there being multiple sides to every story, the fact that SK haven't worked with the same publisher twice in a row (to my knowledge, at least) since the early 1990s didn't exactly inspire confidence (Crystal Dynamics/Eidos - Blood Omen, Nintendo - Eternal Darkness, Konami - MGS: Twin Snakes, Microsoft - Too Human, Activision - X-Men Destiny). I always figured that if the rumours were true, sooner or later it would bite SK hard.

It's really too bad, because when they've been able to make the games they've actually wanted to, the story and visual design have been outstanding. They seem to have trouble attracting the mass-market, but the people who like Blood Omen, Eternal Darkness, and Too Human really like them. How many people on these forums played the relatively short TH over and over for hundreds of hours?

A real shame, but let's face it the writing's been on the wall for some time now. From the silence that started shortly after the release of Too Human (ignoring all our questions about the DLC a month after the game shipped) to all the bad news about the trial. Silicon Knights has been appearing in the press fairly regularly and for all the wrong reasons.

A damn shame, as Too Human is still one of my favourite games.

KICKSTARTER! Flipping kickstart some games, some PSN/XBLA/Steam stuff. I don't need another developer auctioning off stuff, 38 was too much already.

who the hell would support them at this point? Not sure I could trust SK with my money in advance.

Hey man, I see your point. File chapter whatever #, form a new company (like many other devs have done this generation), make a small team or carry them over and dyack stays silent and out of public sight. Tech demo for new title or renamed spiritual successor to TH/ED/whatever, and kickstart it.

"them" is key because Silicon Knights is the name taking the hit, Dyack has a unchangeable reputation to those that know him but many still don't so a reformation could be viable IMHO.

Can't Microsoft intervene and shut down anything that is a direct sequel? I'm not sure I would even like a "spiritual successor" to Too Human. What exists is what needs continuation.

I love how the anti-sk schadenfreude just keeps going and going. I might write my own Too Human 2 and 3 since I'll probably never see them otherwise.

Yeah they have pretty much burned all their bridges.

Publishers won't want to deal with them because they have had multiple issues with time and budget. Then you have the fact that the management failed to play ball and do the things necessary to help promote the game. Finally their lack of commercial success makes them a bad investment.

Since Denis decided to attack the press and challenge how the media coverage is handled after a bad E3 write up. I doubt they would do anything but trash a SK Kickstart. It's funny how the topic of Video game journalism is now just getting the scrutiny that Denis said it needed. It's just a shame that his motives for bringing it up were so transparent.

Finally you have the actual video game consumer. After releasingtwo poorly rated titles and doing absolutely nothing to support them, I can only see the most loyal of fans putting up actual cash to support SK. They would never get enough money to fund the development of a new title.

Still even with all that said, I would probably kick in for a patch/update for Too Human.

I love how the anti-sk schadenfreude just keeps going and going.
While I don't think anyone on the forum here is doing that, I will agree that DD/SK has been the gaming communities whipping boy for a while.

Undeservedly, at least partially, until X-Men Destiny came out. Even I couldn't defend that, but to anyone I would speak to on the subject, I would conjecture that they were doing a side project to make some moolah to make a different, better game (usually Eternal Darkness 2) and it's sad how accurate that turned out to be.

      now this is bad news:

      http://docs.justia.com/cases/federal...275/89570/862/

SK has to recall and destroy all unsold copies of Too Human, so prepare to have a collectable.

Also, the sheer number of times SK tried to cover-up code was really a shock.

      And Then SK died.

So what're the odds of DD going an joining some ridiculous s group like 22 cans?

I still want to see TH2 but I now have 0 faith that it'll ever exist.

Does that mean I have to destroy the copy of Too Human I bought when it first came out in 2008? As Charlton Heston would say; "Out of my cold dead hands!"

I think most of us have realized for a while now that the SK we once knew is gone. It is a sad thing.
