In the Canadian Game Development Talent Awards' inaugural year, which was held at the closing of the Montreal International Game Summit on November 2, 2011, industry legends Denis Dyack, founder and President of Silicon Knights, and Remi Racine, president and executive producer at Behaviour Interactive, are the first inductees into the Canadian Gaming Hall of Fame.
The Canadian Game Development Talent Awards also has seven distinct categories recognizing the amazing creativity and expertise that exists within Canada’s game development community.
The seven individual winners are:
Animator of the Year - Aaron Bouthillier (Shank)
Designer of the Year - Kris Piotrowski (Sword & Sworcery EP)
Programmer of the Year - Frédéric Blais (Michael Jackson The Experience)
Emerging Talent - Richard Flanagan (Fract)
Audio Professional of the Year - Simon Ashby (Wwise)
Producer of the Year - Casey Hudson (Mass Effect 2)
Visual Artist of the Year - Craig Adams (Sword & Sworcery EP)
The Canadian Game Development Talent Awards, organized by Alliance numérique in collaboration with the Canadian Interactive Alliance (CIAIC), recognizes the talent and achievements of game developers throughout Canada. “Our goal is to recognize the creative talent in Canada, which is now the third most important cluster in terms of video game development in the world’’ said Pierre Proulx, General Manager of Alliance numérique.
