Too Human Is My Crack!
Brink...
But I really like playing multiplayer with friends...
"It puts the lotion on its skin or else it doesn't post again." -Hannar
Brink, in spite of not liking most MP... lol.
Deus ex:Human evolution. Cause I loved the first one and am truly a fan of story driven games. Put in some Ghost in a shell and im sold. Day one purchase for me.
Brink! Finally a game that removes everything I hate about competitive FPS games.
Then, when I find out Dues Ex is actually as good as it looks, it'll go on sale, and then I'll buy it.
"I can either sit here and wait for my ship to come in, or I can start building a dock."
Deus Ex is my only other day one purchase this year besides Gears 3.
Brink looks like a shooter that marches to its own beat and has a loyal underground following and is destined for cult success...like Borderlands. Which I thought was horribly mediocre. So I'm gonna wait on Brink...probably forever.
Yeah I would have to go with Brink. Multiplayer games have the most life at launch and this looks like a great ones. If it does have the long tail I hope it does then you will be behind everyone who knows the maps and have the skill trees figured out.
Deus ex looks really great and will be my first but it is single player and the story will not change when you get it later.
Deus Ex's release date isn't until early Fall, so you shouldn't have a problem unless it is a money concern.
I think I need a new shooter to tide me over until BF3 is released so I'm probably gonna buy Brink, and the Witcher 2 looks ****in amazing too, this month.
Deus Ex looks amazing but honestly its probably gonna get lost in all of the releases this Fall.
i say both just cuz ican do that, but brink cuz it seems like it will ahve more of a replay value
ps HI everyone![]()

if you want a multi game, go with brink, but if you are wanting a good rpg deus ex is a go...
can't remember the release dates...but aren't they spaced far enough apart?
i know i wish deus ex was coming out sooner, so i could cram in even more of it b4 ME3 comes out...and i hope it doesn't get forgotten with all the other A titles coming out in the fall...
Holy crap, Shika's back.
Yeah, Deus Ex is coming out in late August, so unless you play Madden it shouldn't interfere with any gameage that month.
How it stands up against Gears 3 and Rage a few weeks later will be vital to its success.
Honestly, putting it out late July/early August would have been a much safer bet for them, but recent builds have left some things to be desired, I'm told, so I actually hope that late August is enough time to work things out.
I had to let this baby marinade for a little bit.
Money is tight at the moment so I'm thinking about 3 games for the whole year, so that's ME3, X-Men:destiny, and one of these two games.
I had a lot of fun playing Borderlands with some of you, so I'm gonna have to go with Brink.
With Borderlands I couldn't talk smack, but with Brink, that's a different beast, so I will unleash all my trash talking like I do in Halo.lol
Too Human Is My Crack!
How is Brink in any way like Borderlands? Except it has guns in it and the graphical style somewhat...though not really.
EDIT: Let me go into detail about what I mean.
Brink is basically takes the COD/BF unlock system where you gain 'XP' (It's really more like credits, earn enough and you can buy the next Gun or perk) by kills and supporting your team to unlock weapons, gadgets, and gear.
It then basically rips off the BC2 class system basically feature for feature, but with some TF2 thrown in as well.
The spawn system is also taken from BC2, except made better and more interesting. The spawn system in BC2 is definitely one of the best shooter mechanics I've seen in a while, can give you a tactical advantage at any time, and this looks to build upon that.
Finally, throws in a little bit of Mirror's Edge with some free running, but really its just a glorified jump or roll button if you look closely.
Conversely, Borderlands is a single-player or Co-op (Brink has a single/co-op campaign as well) RPG that focuses on gaining levels which unlock abilities in a skill tree, loot drop mechanics, and questing. There are some slight similarities in the two, but mostly its just cosmetic and when you actually look at what is happening in terms of gameplay they are completely different games.
I think he was just saying he played Borderlands with us and had fun so now he wants to do the same with Brink. I don't think he was comparing the games, just hoping for the same level of co-op fun with the people here.
Brink is the right choice for sure Raz.
Also, Grief some of your info is a bit off. You can't buy guns or gun parts through XP, you unlock them through the challenge system in a different game mode (all modes feed the same XP pool for your character). Those challenges all have ranks that unlock different things and many can be done in up to 4 player co-op (kind of like Spec Ops). Leveling unlocks clothing customization options and character skills/ranks only.
Brink didn't take the class or respawn system from Battlefield, the classes and respawn wave elements have been in SD's Enemy Territory games for ages. I am not sure respawn waves appeared first in SD games or the original Team Fortress though. SD definitely was the first to put an XP system in an FPS game, and has been doing class based and objective driven FPS mod and game creation since before they released Quake 3 Fortress in early 2001, before Battlefield existed, let alone BC2. If anything they have been the ones ripped off by CoD, BF, and Killzone over the years.
The SMART system is also definitely not "a glorified jump and roll" at all. It completely changes the way you can approach tactics in the game and how you can move through levels. When I got to demo it I was doing things that would be impossible in any other FPS within a few minutes. It is actually much more like Assassin's Creed movement in an FPS than Mirror's Edge's parkour and there are some really advanced tactics you can get into, side wall-hops into jumps, slide tackles, etc. It is really a much deeper system than most videos show especially when you combine it with manual movement inputs.
im gettin brink, an maaw is getin brink wat more reason do you need??

I'm cancelling my preorder now![]()
+1 for stupid phone posting
Maaw is right.
Trust me Grief, I've been following the game for a while now. I believe I was the creator of the thread too.
The thing is that money is tight and I want to make the right choice. The smart choice would be to go with Brink if I want to enjoy it with others.
I have too many one player games and I'm feeling lonely.lol
Brink it isthen. Day one hopefully. I don't know what class I want yet.lol
Too Human Is My Crack!
Just because Im a priest doesn't mean I don't get off on watching rogues die.......? Wrong game? oh.... Just because Im a defender doesn't mean I like getting hit in the head, it just means Im better at it. I think.... Im dizzy.
Yeah Brink is the right choice. What are you going to do till fall if you don't get it? Play your old games...Plus hopefully things will be better by then and you can get all three in the fall anyway.
This is not insider info or anything but I have not seen an official release date for Destiny anyway so who really knows when it is coming out. See you on the Brink man.![]()
