i'm gonna have to look more into this game...from what u guys are saying it sounds as if it could be fun, although from what i've seen of it so far it's been nothing for me to get excited about, so i'll have to look at it more...as i'm in a similar boat...i'm only gonna be able to afford at most 3 more games the rest of the year (pry only 2) and had planned on ME3 defiantly, and Deus Ex as the other, and maybe DNF ( but was gonna wait on the reviews)...but i guess i'll take another look at Brink...

Look man, Duke is not gonna be worth full price, I can guarantee it. It'll be fun, but not 60 bones of fun.

Mass Effect 3 isn't coming out until the first three months of next year anyway (confirmed yesterday) now so you can get the other three and just count ME3 towards next year, assuming Destiny does come out this year. =D

WOW that sucks man!! I wanted ME3 this year. I guess It'll give me more time to port over more classes.
Another game I must get but not for me is Lego Pirates Of The Caribbean. that one is for my son, though I played the demo yesterday and I liked it.
So if Destiny doesn't come out this year either, I can get both Brink and Deus.

I'm with Guirec on that one too prodigy, DNF is not a day one purchase or worth paying 60 for. I would wait.
The game is in good hands, we all know that, but its not going to be something that's going to blow peoples minds.

So many good games coming out this year, Witcher 2, Deus Ex, BF3, Skyrim, D3, Dark Souls I'm probably forgetting one or two... Probably why ME3 got delayed, probably not that many games coming out Q1 2012

Yeah, that post holiday window has shown to be a reasonable sales spot for sequels in the past few years. Bioshock 2 did well there, Dead Space 2 got delayed to there by EA last year, etc. Taking time more polish is never a bad thing and the game is going to sell boatloads whenever it does hit anyway so it won't really matter. More time to play Skyrim is all it means to me.

i had no intention of getting it day one...i had planned on waiting on the review, maybe playing a demo, and at the earliest waiting till the $40 price for it drops...unless it ends up being better than everyone thinks it'll be...

That sounds like a pretty solid plan. It's the one I use on most games, especially since it can only take two weeks to drop that much (Portal 2 anyone?).

lol ya, that dropped like a rock...I'm really surprised it was 60 dollars in the first place, instead of 30-40. I mean this is Valve, not Activision...

I read the reviews though and it seemed like a complete game, I'm not that big a fan of puzzle games since they are over very fast and have little replay value but that's just IMO.

Can you blame them? If people are willing to pay $60 for the game, I'd reap the rewards while I could too - then you grab all the deal hunters quick while the hype is still rolling. Seemed like a solid strategy to me. The market defines price, not necessarily the company, hence the saying, "vote with your wallet."

Then you have the much larger franchises that stay in the $50-$60 realm for weeks, even months.

Though the GCN version is on Amazon for $66

Neither Gamecube nor Wii games ever released at that price point. They always came out at 50.

Deus Ex 3, as I played the first one to death (and was suitably let down by the second game)

Actually you might want to save your rental money as well...

If you're looking for a team-based FPS, get it.

If you're looking for a team-based Halo, CoD, or even a Borderlands clone - rent it. It is none of those games!

I really enjoy it, but obviously it's an either you love it or hate it type of game.

      Rent money is covered.
I'm still playing my old games, trying to get all the achievements in most of them.
I just don't want to choose the wrong game, so I might have to rent both and see what I like best.

I don't HATE it but I can't say I love it or really like it. It is more fun playing with a team with mics and will put in more time with it. But I expected more. It feels more like a beta than the full game.

You level sooo fast. I have only played about 6 matches and am level 7. With only 20 levels I can see being maxed before finishing both stories once.

The movement speed is slower than I expected too and feels a bit clunky at times. I figure that will get better as I use the controls more, but run feels like crawl+ Gears 3 feels faster to me.

It has promise but the execution is not there yet. You still have heavy choke points and the maps probably have too much detail to navigate quickly and effectively. Learning the maps of course will help solve that.

yes, do a stealth playthrough, as the game is super easy even on the hardest difficulty when playing stealth. also max out your Typhoon Explosive System regardless of what type of PT ur doing you can use it twice along with 2 grenades to kill the first boss, and 1 emp grenade + two shots of it will kill bosses 2 and 3, and after killing boss 3 the LS-66 Sabre Direct Energy Rifle should be there somewhere, find it and hold onto it, as if you stealth and fire it directly at the last boss you turn her battle from a 15min battle to about 30sec...

Don't tell him about the laser trick on the first playthrough, that makes it too easy! Hahaha

I focus on Hacking and moving heavy objects early. The first boss is also beaten very easily with a combo of stun gun and thrown objects. I agree that the Typhoon is perfect to have upgraded for the second boss, though. You can beat the third boss with your bare hands if you know how to wing it.

Focus on one or two weapons to "keep". If you are going lethal, probably the pistol or combat rifle. Nonlethal, keep the stunner and the PEPS.

Nonlethal stealth runthroughs are very easy as stated, because you get MASSIVE points for not setting off alarms or being seen, and with that experience you can max out almost everything on your suit, making it that much more simple to play any way you like.

The Rocket launcher is definitely not worth lugging around... Only worth selling... I really liked the tranq rifle for non-leathle. Also always keep 3 EMP Mines handy for the Large mechs (Silverbacks? dont remember) only takes one mine to kill. Gas gernades are great in the later game.
At the start I went with a storage upgrade, lift heavy objects, power recharge and the jump can be really helpful. Cloak is almost mandatory for me .
