I don't understand a whole lot of the legal process but it seems from your post that the court tossed out any and all possibility SK really had to stick it to EPIC.

http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/31/si...-in-epic-case/X-Men Destiny and Too Human developer Silicon Knights plans to appeal a recent court loss to Epic Games, studio head Denis Dyack told Joystiq. After losing a five-year-long lawsuit this week to Epic Games, Silicon Knights was ordered to fork over $4.45 million in damages to Epic. Dyack said he was "disappointed by the outcome," and that his company would appeal the ruling.
They just got slowly beaten down by having witness/testimony/expert tossed-out time and again. Ironically one of these experts could have presented the true "cost/loss" incurred by SK to the court but they were dismissed THEN the judge says the game only has the value of $1 because SK couldn't relay accurate losses via the Epic debacle. PG maybe you can elaborate but it seems they were just screwed time and again from a legal standpoint.

since when is modern law about right and wrong though?
More than that it's about friends and influence as well. Money on lawyers is great and all, but if the lawyer you're facing off with is close to the judge, you'll lose regardless. Toss in the fact it was foreign company pushing a lawsuit against a US company in a southern court and it just so happens that one of those companies has an incredibly negative public perception and the other positive. You get a catastrophic court case.
Just because Im a priest doesn't mean I don't get off on watching rogues die.......? Wrong game? oh.... Just because Im a defender doesn't mean I like getting hit in the head, it just means Im better at it. I think.... Im dizzy.
wow, this is terrible news, where is SK going to come up with 4.4 mil?
Doesn't look like there will be another game if all this is true![]()
Welcome to the community OugaBooga. It doesn't look bright but it isn't over yet. I don't believe there will be a turnaround, but maybe Denis can come up with an ace out of his sleeve.
Thanks AKAtheDopeman!
I just found out online today.....kinda sucks but I'm not shocked Epic got the result they wanted, but I'm not losing hope for Denis that he would fight back like he does
I can't help but feel that SK kinda got shafted, after all the trial took place in epics home state, many many many miles from SKs home, what judge in their right mind is going to force a massive employer in the local community to pay out a huge fortune and risk making people un-employed, wouldnt that just make things difficult for himself potentially. I can't help but think would would have happened had the trial been held in some neutral state. Maybe even a different country rather then us or canada.
