Default Siren in the Maelstrom (new SK project name)

Telefilm Canada has announced the 56 new media projects it is helping fund for the next year. And if you scroll down you'll see a certain enigmatically named project from a certain St. Catharines-based developer that certain message board posters like to hear info about.

      http://www.telefilm.gc.ca/data/Flash...hInfo_1013.asp

So what is it? SitM would make a pretty good subtitle for an Eternal Darkness game. Or something else psychological-thriller-y. Or maybe it's just a codename for SK's new badminton game for the Wii.

The name is quite elusive; could be anything, really.

Would it be SK's fault that it got leaked or more of that websites fault? It seems that SK couldn't have prevented the leak, it was just a report on what was being funded for what companies and for the product.

I don't I could be way off here but that's what it seems to me.

It's not anyone in SK's fault.

it's nothing to do with a website or sk. it was a release from the company that gives out government grants. they don't understand the concept of secret projects

All I'm going to say, is the title of the game itself is enough to get me super excited.

It sounds different, perhaps more story based than Too Human was. I'd love to see them return to a Dark horror style game, perhaps an evolution of what they had in Eternal Darkness, but different. Different setting, different style, but smart, creative, and interesting.

Bah, the worst part about this, is we probably won't hear much of anything more for a while. I can't wait to see more though.

I just google searched Maelstrom, saw it, and was like, hey, thats sweet. Probably nothing like the game, but cool nonetheless, and depicts a maelstrom in an awesome picture.

Industry Advisory - Telefilm Canada announces National New Media Decisions for 2009-2010
Montreal, July 21, 2009 – Telefilm Canada is pleased to announce that 56 new media projects have been selected to receive financial support through the Product Assistance component of the Canada New Media Fund (CNMF).
The projects selected represent a wide range of platforms and genres – from console games and convergent projects, to independent websites and applications for mobile devices.
Independent websites and applications designed for mobile devices (iPhones and PDA’s) received the majority of support in the Western region; console or handheld-console games and independent websites fared very well in Ontario & Nunavut; regional funding in Quebec focused on console or handheld-console games and independent websites; and in the Atlantic region console or handheld-console games and applications for mobile devices received the most support.
The diversity of projects submitted demonstrates the tremendous growth of the industry across the country. Telefilm has been essential in helping Canadian content producers develop many of the properties that help contribute to the 52,100 jobs the industry generates in Canada1. Every dollar invested by Telefilm Canada through the fund on behalf of the Department of Canadian Heritage generates $3.58 in the sector.
The CNMF is a unique program that provides funding for private sector entrepreneurs. The national program supports the creation and the distribution of interactive cultural content products through: Product Assistance, Sectoral Assistance and Sectoral Development.
