In myth #3 we see our first example of Loki as the trickster, edging the gods to the brink of disaster by campaigning to allow the giant-in-disguise mason to rebuild the protective wall around Asgard. A common theme in subsequent myths, Loki also helps to rescue the gods at a great personal sacrifice; a gesture that is not born out of courage, and not met with thankful praise. No, Loki is no hero in this myth, and his behavior foreshadows much mischief to come. His final words to Odin as he returns with Sleipnir are particulary worth noting.
