Anyone who is a fan of Joss Whedon(Firefly(Serenity), Buffy, Angel, Dr. Horrible's) has probably already heard of this and checked it out, but if you haven't I strongly suggest checking out this new TV show. The first three episodes are on Hulu, although not for very much longer for ep. 1, or they are on Fox.

Here is a premise of the show taken from wikipedia.

Eliza Dushku plays a young woman called Echo, a member of a group of people known as "Actives" or "Dolls". The Dolls have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas, including memory, muscle memory, skills, and language, for different assignments (referred to as engagements). The new persona is not an original creation, however, but an amalgam of different, existing personalities. The end result incorporates some of the flaws, not just the strengths, of the people used as templates. The Actives are then hired out for particular jobs – crimes, fantasies, and the occasional good deed. On engagements, Actives are monitored internally (and remotely) by Handlers. In between tasks, they are mind-wiped into a child-like state and live in a futuristic dormitory/laboratory, a hidden facility nicknamed "The Dollhouse". The story follows Echo, who begins, in her mind-wiped state, to become self-aware.

Beyond Dushku's character, the show also revolves around the people who run the mysterious "Dollhouse" and two other "Dolls", Sierra and Victor (played by Dichen Lachman and Enver Gjokaj), who are friendly with Echo. The names of Actives are simply letters in the phonetic alphabet. Although the Actives are ostensibly volunteers, the operation is highly illegal and under constant threat on one end from Paul Ballard, a determined federal agent who has heard a rumor about the Dolls, and an insane rogue Active on the other.

There is much more to it than just that. Just watch a couple episodes and judge for yourself.

The storyline sounds interesting, I just found it funny that they are calling them dolls.

It makes sense to call them Dolls, they make them who they want them to be for that specific mission.

Eleazar I've been wanting to see this but I have no clue at what time its starts or what channel.
Joss Whedon is the man, too bad they don't give him the credit he deserves.
I love both Firefly and the movie, great stuff.
I'm afraid though that this show will end up being canceled just like firefly.
what do you think?

I saw the first episode, and it was ok. maybe the show will get better down the line, but this show is no Firefly.

Edit: it's on fox Friday night, but you can watch it for free at http://hulu.com

The first episode was... 'just okay' for me and I found out quickly the next week that I would rather sleep (I work overnights) than watch the next week and haven't gone back since. (I do get up to watch the Sarah Conner Chronicles.)

The thing is I've read enough to know the show is suppose to pick up after the first couple of shows but I just don't think its going to make it so I don't want to get involved in another show (see Sarah Conner above) that is supposedly already on a short leash...

If anything this show will be on a longer leash because of Fox's past experience with canceled shows; see Firefly and Futurama. Also just watch it on Hulu if you don't feel like catching it on Friday nights.

Also Nimander it isn't trying to be Firefly so don't try to compare it to something it is not.

I know that, but IMO firefly had a better cast, and a better plot. There was a lot more depth to the story. Of course dollhouse may end up being awesome, so we'll just have to wait and see

Just let it get through a season before you start comparing them. Most TV series start off slow. Really I think nastolgia that people have for Firefly makes people forget that Firefly started slow as well. Really I think this show has had a better start so far than Firefly.

I have faith in Whedon, so I am going to continue to follow the show. I heard around Ep 6 is where it really picks up though...

The first episode was Ok. I liked the second (delved more into Echo's handler etc). Did not like the third.

I'll continue to give it time, right now IMHO Eliza is clearly struggling with the doll scenes
"They won't wake up" UGH!! haha

That is exactly how the dolls are supposed to act.

I watched the 1st episode - I thought it was ok - and my dvr kept recording it every Friday. I was about to delete all of them, but I decided to watch at least 2 more before I did and now I'm into it. It sort of reminds me of another show I was really into that got canceled this year - My Own Worst Enemy.

Yep, and they hire them out for "fantasies". So it's a whorehouse also by the sounds of it.
