Well, I just beat Too Human, not even 5 minutes ago. I played as a cyber zerker and ended the game at level 30, took my time and had fun. However, I think everyone can agree the game was missing something. So here's what I thought of it.
Graphics: 8/10
I thought the graphics were up to date, and perfect in game graphics for the type of game this was. Although the cut scene graphics could have been upgraded, maybe I was just displeased with the lack of epic cut scenes.
Sound: 6/10
People are all ranting and raving over the sound track asking when it is to be released...I have no clue why, the sound was quiet most of the time, as we could only hear the hacking and slashing. The certain times hardcore music came on, which pumped me up, it only lasted 10 seconds.
Story: 7/10
The story at first held my attention. However, once I got to Hel, the cut scene there was so less epic than I thought, it was rather disappointing. Then once I actually killed the "whore" and had to fight my way out that killed the whole accomplishment of killing her. (BTW I didnt get any loot from her...was this intended on the first play through?) The ending cinematic was also a let down, I wanted to hear Loki, maybe talking in his devilish voice about how he had a plan to take everyone down. Baldur in his scene was lame and it was too short to warrant an ending cut scene. ( while sure this is supposed to be the first in a trilogy, if the first one sucks no one will buy the 2nd or 3rd.)
Game play: 9/10
This is what, I feel is the selling point of Too Human. The ability to continue to collect loot, and level up make this game appealing, especially to those Diablo fans. I spent lots of time looking for weapons, buying them etc. I also loved the controls, however they at times became very sketchy. I would try to slide at an enemy only to find that I couldnt target him and would have to use a ruiner to kill him. The camera as you see, will have its own section.
Camera: 6/10
The camera in this game was at times perfectly fine. however, for the time spent making too human, SK, should not have released the ****ty angles that were given at times, it totally killed the fight I was in and would sometimes just be really annoying.
Levels: 5/10
The level development, I felt was very shaky. The first level, I felt was actually fun. Then the repetitiveness of each level began to wear in. Each level, while at first seemed new, became dull, as the environment NEVER changed, nor did the enemies. They were only 4 levels, and I felt, every boss fight was lame, very easy, simple and pointless.
Thats all I have to say at this point. I loved the game, and will continue to play until level 50 on my cyber zerker, if I can stand level farming and etc.
My other random complaints were weapon selection. For me at least I could either go dual staves, or dual swords, with each graphic set looking EXACTLY the same, except one set of swords which I replaced. Maybe this will change, and since I dont know if it does I wont mark it down. I wish there were dual axes, now that would be awesome.
OVERALL: i give the game an 8/10
I loved the game and really wish more people still played it. The reviews, while some were warranted on the bad scores, I felt killed the game, as they drove me away from buying the game until now. The death scene everyone complains about was nothing at all what I thought. Anyone that actually whines over that, and thinks theyd rather have an xp dock is crazy, stop whinning about a 10 sec death scene.
