I thought that was an amazing ending, especially if you have read the norse myths. The interpretation of Hod and how he kills baldur was awesome. I think Silicon Knights did an amazing job at this and i nearly screamed in joy at the last cinematic. The whole Fenrir killing his wife was amazing. Congradulations SK, you pleased me.

Oh, that happens in the final scenes.
Well, I'm right up at the end, but I want to clear out the cyberspace in the well at Yggdrassil before I watch it. But if what I've seen so far is any indication the ending must be incredible.

I fully dug the whole Loki looking up to the giant.
Really makes you want RotG.

The last few cut-scenes in the game were definetly the best in the game. Great cliffhanger too, even better than Assassin's Creed one. If you though trolls with missiles were hard, wait until we get to fight a bunch of Dark Elves zerging us while 3 Giants are coming our way... Achievement in TH2 : Die 500 times :D

I'd sure hope it wouldn't be that high unless they count your death toll from the first game with it.
Dammit, I expected more from the final few cinemas. But nevertheless, when Baldur stuck his sword in the table was sweet, I had my dual swords equipped too.
But uh... Nothing more was shown on Nyanna. And they don't show Fenrir doing anything to her. Just show Fenrir shaking and then Baldur calms him down and calls him a Bastard Wolf. And to my knowledge Nyanna was still on the ground begging to be finished off.

It was cool to see fenrir finally exert his will at the end. I hope that plays more into the future titles. Maybe if you level him up too high there is a chance he will turn on you allies also or maybe he won't fight. But that could just be frustrating too...
Whoever did not get excited at the end of the game when that Giant walks up holding an axe the size of the empire state building has no pulse.
That is going to be some epic fighting. I can just see baldur having to scale that beast fighting off hordes of enemies as the Giant makes his way to Aesir headquarters. Will you stop him before he destroys the last strong hold of the humans?!?
I can imagine we are going to have to fight the world serpent again because he got away this time and Thor wants his revenge.

Where you human? I was a cyber and he surely did finish her off. I am not sure they showed the blood splatter but it was clear he "killed" her. Not sure she could did, she was in Helheim, but maybe killing Hel changes the meaning of "death" Oh entriguing.

Yeah I loved the the whole story, especially the ending the take on the mythology was very good, and the ending made my mouth all watery for the next installment. You guys been watching all the SK and DD interviews at joystiq, very good stuff talks a little about what they will do with TH2. I'm really excited

Hah, yeah I saw that huge Giant at the end of the cutscene and I thought "ohh man, I dont think my BioE can take that guy at level 29, im gonna go play online before hitting the next level"............
Then the credits started to roll and I was like "DAMMIT!". I really liked the cliffhanger ending though, it really gives you the feeling like you arent done yet and there is still more to come. It really gives the player a reason to pick up TH2 when it comes out.
And I also 2nd the notion that it was bad@ss when Baldur thrust down his sword into the table and everyone had that look on their face like "dude....i think we pissed him off"

I do have one question, that wasn't made clear in the myths or the cinematics. Did the Aesir just assume that Hod and Loki were in it together? Hod was assumed guilty cause he ran (after thinking he had killed Loki), but Loki was chained to the boulders as punishment, too. I can't imagine they'd send Baldur after Loki if they knew the truth...

It was later revealed that Loki tricked Hod into killing Baldur in both muth and game, but once they relised who was to blame Hod had already paid the ulimate price.

The giant at the end really pumped me up. Gave me visions of taking tons of them down Shadow of the Colossus style which would by itself make TH2 for me.
Does anyone think you will spend the game away from the Aesir in TH2? Baldur seemed pretty pissed at all of them at the end .

It wouldn't surprise me if the second game starts off that way, kind of like he is on a mission all by himself and is trying to stay away as much as possible but I think he is to integral to the story and the story is of ragnorok (the fall of the gods) so I doubt the entire game or there for even anything past the first level will take place in self exile

I don't know if I should post this here but as the story goes, this game seems to be the beginning of Ragnarok. According to that, you will see the World Serpent again, as well as the giants. But the giant seen at the very end of the clip, it isn't Surtr, he is a fire giant with a big flaming sword. I am really excited to see how SK follows the story of Ragnarok with the rest of the games. The second game is hard to predict because of what SK did, with bringing Baldur back from the dead. Really throws something new into the story and makes me wonder if it will follow the events of Ragnarok or if it will spin down an alternative path because Baldur is still amongst the Aesir.

Human alignment and I didn't see any such blood splatter. I'll have to watch the cutscene again though, maybe I missed something.

Neither alignment shows the blood splatter. She gets zapped with some type of force I believe, killing her on the spot.

Well my question is even though everyone thought Hod just went insane, why did he run off to the Ice Forest and side with the enemy, after he had thought he killed Loki?
Anyone have any thoughts? That has been bugging me.

He killed a God and thats against the law. Especialy since Loki wasn't threatening him directly. So he ran to hide from the other Aesir so he wouldn't be impressioned and possibly executed.

Ah okay, I figured... just wanted to make sure I wasnt missing out on a large part of the lore =)
Now I've got the story down flat. Thanks a ton!
But yes this works out very nicely, so he has killed Hel in the first game
The second game will be? Giants? And number 3 will be like an epic fight with Fenrir and Odin, and pretty much a grand finale where everyone dies?
Ah cant wait to see Loki get his face kicked in...

Actually, I would imagine the second game will figure largely in finding a way to stop Nidhogg now that it has manifested outside of C3.

Who cares, it'll be epic either way knowing how SK makes their games. :)

I for one, was very impressed with how they adapted the Norse Myth to the Sci-Fi world. There is vast potential in this universe for some great storytelling, even outside of the primary Too Human trilogy.
I would have liked a little more digging into the world of the Humans though. the only real glimpses we see are a few cutscenes and the random chatter during missions.
I would have liked SK to define Baldur's Human Squad a little deeper, give them a little more personality and identity.
also, I wonder if they ever gave any thought to adapting any other types of Myth into the universe they've created. (I mean besides Grendel). like maybe Arthurian Legend or something like that.

One thing that did twist this plot compared to the original mythos is the absence of Vali(can't do the accent over the "a"), which was born for the sole purpose of killing Hod. Also, Hermod didn't just run up and take Baldur out of Helheim. He was told that if everything wept for the loss of Baldur, that Hel would free him...there was a witch(Thokk?) that didn't weep, so he stayed in Helheim. Later on they found out the witch that didn't weep was Loki in disguise and then chased him down...think that was when he was imprisoned.
Don't know how Baldur is resurrected, but he is when the world is remade. Guess SK is going to have it to where he remakes the world himself. Maybe thats why they have him in Vali's place. May also be the reason for the alignments...Cybernetic where he can't part with the gifts from ODIN/Ymir, and Human for the ending where he walks away from it all and starts again from scratch.
Also wonder what they are going to do about Forseti, Baldur's son.
Oh yeah, hi. I'm new. lol
As for making Baldur's human squad deeper...think the last of them were nuked, sadly. But they had the best quote "I think Lord Baldur hates us, sir." "No, he just hates you."

I do remember an interview, or maybe a podcast that covered something to the effect of while Norse Mythology was indeed an inspiration, that they still had to take certain liberties.
I don't know which of those liberties apply to your thoughts.
I don't have a link, however a number of the posters here are pretty good at digging things of that nature up so I'm sure a link or two may find it's way to you if you're indeed pressed for proof of what I'm referencing.
Thanks!

I thought the same, but then I thought that when Baldur says "the Baldur you knew is gone" he has been reborn as Vali, in spirit at least. He is quite bent on killing people and machines in the story.
The ending certainly was great, I have high expectations of the games to come now!
