After reading most all of the TH reviews, I've decided to finally make my own review of Too Human. First off, I want to say this game is great in a lot of respects. Such as its game play, character & armor design, music, just the over all beauty of the game and I absolutely love the convertion from the old Norse lore to the post apocalyptic era. But there are some flaws that should, and have been addressed.
The first and probably most disappointing thing in my opinion is the elite gear.
It seems odd that something that is classified as "elite" can be replaced by the Aesir armor. Really the only redeeming quality of the elite gear is the set bonuses, although the Champion 4/7 set bonus is Mastery: Tree of Scorching Light which isn't part of the Champion skill tree. I am fine with the the drop rate because it is after all "elite". Also the elite weapons, true some of them look really nice but there are some that are just plain looking. Also same as the armor the ruins in them should be elite. I understand SK is trying to avoid overpowering things but when I get 7/7 I want to be OP. :P
Another thing that really is more annoying than anything is the cut sences that you are unable to skip, including death sequence, opening doors in cyberspace, opening "real" world doors from cyberspace and any of the short scenes involving the Wolf soldiers and the Valkyries. The cut scenes are very good and visually pleasing but sometimes I just wanna play the game.
Something that has become a corcern of mine is containers and their cotents. Especially while in a challenge I don't want bounty when I've got a few hundred points of health. Since there is only so many BioE's out there, cantainers really are the only other means of healing yourself.
One thing that really bothers me is the how unbalanced the game can be at times. One thing in particullar is the status affects, especially the poison. I had a level 50 Commando full health die from one poison affect. Now that brings me to the fact that Too Human is only 2 player co-op, if there are status affects that will take you from full health to death there should be either a away to dispel the affects them selves or increase co-op to atleast 3 players.
Along those same lines the trolls and there AoE's are very deceiving, the visual affects do not match up with the actual damaging affect itself and becomes very deadly when it comes to Fire and Weakening Trolls. Then you have the Ice and Slowing trolls which status affects you cannot avoid. Also the fact that polarity enemies can have a chance of being almost completely immune to ballistics with poses a problem with you're forced to use your Fierce attack which has 50/50 chance of sending your character charging into certain death.
This next point isn't detrimental to the game but just bothers me and this the fact that while playing co-op your attack can be completely interupted by the other player with you. If you both charge at a enemy there is a chance that one of you will get caught on the other and completely stopped in your tracks.
Also there is the problem of enemies falling through the map or just disapearing. Thats nice when you're almost dead and and being chased by a Night Elf Leader but not when you're at full health in a groove tring to get your elite gear. Plus if alot of us are spending a multitude of tim and frustration in this game we want it to work correctly.
And last but definitely not the least annoying is the cammra, for the most part it works just fine but sometimes it just gets down right rediculous.
So thats the end of my monster of review/rant. :)
