Mature, relaxed co-op runs starting in 5...

I'm looking for more players to do some online co-op with. My only 50 is a berserker, but I have a 32 champ as well. I may also be interested in leveling other characters if that's your fancy.

I live in the EST and I'm generally active from 6-9pm or so, sometimes later if I have the night free. I'm not fixed on a specific type of run, I typically do 3-4 runs and Helheim clears if I'm motivated to look for loot. I'm also very fair and generous when it comes to drops. (I gave an epic Bio set piece to a defender I was running with last night so he could hand it off to his friend; this is all just pixels and I really don't need to hoard them.)

Basically I'm just looking for fun runs with laid-back, cool people. I'm not an uber power player, but I know what I'm doing for the most part. If you're interested in doing some runs free of e-peen or spaz behavior, look me up, I'd love to do some co-op with other members here. :)

I should also add that I have experience running with Bios, Defenders, and Champs primarily, but am willing to try anything once. (Twice if I like it.) I'm open to feedback and suggestions, especially pertaining to optimizing my playstyle to suit yours. I like being as effective as possible in a duo - I'm not just going to run off on my own without any coordination b/w the two.

Also, microphones are great if you can use them, but it's not a deal-breaker if you can't. Just be aware that I'm an adult, and my language and humor reflect that. ;)

Hmm... Playing to the strengths of the other player will be a new thing, I'll admit. The only other person I've played with (my brother) didn't feel like re-speccing to help out.
It'll be cheap for me to respec, so we can talk about that in-game if needed.

Yeah, doing a respec is up for discussion, but I would probably stick with the right tree as I wouldn't want to waste someone else's time reallocating points until I've had a chance to try out other builds. I wouldn't expect anyone else to respec, either, unless they were interested in doing so.

I really meant just working together to make sure we're effective and not stepping on each others' toes. Things like "hey can you take the trolls, I have a hard time with them," "I'll grab the spiders if you take the trash," or "I need to stay at range so can you help keep the dark elves off me?" etc. I haven't played every other class at 50, I'm not as familiar with their various skill builds and am always interested in learning how to better accomodate other people's playstyles.

TLDR version: I'm not a egomaniacal douchebag that thinks I'm god's gift to TH co-op, and believe that playing as a team is more fun than playing as two individuals who happen to be stuck in the same level. :)

I myself am a left path human champion, I would never change my tree, and I don't expect others to do something I wouldn't do myself. If you want to do it, that's cool with me, but I'm not going to demand you do it.

Got all the FRs and added everyone who sent one, and I think I responded to the XBL messages as well. Sorry I couldn't play with more of you guys these past few nights, but I might get some time on Saturday or Sunday night if people are around.

So far all the TH members I've run with (all what, three?) have been good fun to play with. Niveus (aka Dr Beckstead on XBL) and I did some great 3-4 runs last night with my Cyberzerker and his Bio. Smooth like buttah, can I just say I love a well-played Bioengineer? (Btw, many thanks for the Necro charm!!)

Ezcal and I teamed up for a couple quick HoH runs last night, and they quickly dispelled any qualms about duoing with another right-spec cyberserker. If anything, the only problem was a lack of enough enemies to keep us occupied.

Oh Jay, I figured out an even better way to get the "12000 kills in air" quest done. middle tree Champion. Battle cry knocks all enemies into the air when hit with a melee. It looked like it was raining goblins, haha. Trade off is now my pistols are almost pointless.

If anyone else here want's to party up, let me know then. If it looks like I'm not on, send a message anyway. Probably a good chance that I am just appearing offline.

A great man once said "the best defense is a good offense." LOL! Seriously, it's that margin for error we were talking about... as long as we're both on our games, it's mass destruction. Miss one crucial step, and it's Hello Valkyrie time.

Next time we play I'm definitely respeccing to the middle tree so we can both hit the battlecries simultaneously. Maybe we should do Hel to make it worthwhile. HoH can't spawn the baddies fast enough. :P

Yeah, that could be seriously devastating. Movement speed + massive damage = a world of hurt. Can't wait to try it out.

Yea I already did. Just missed Ezcal too, thought I would've been on later but I ended up spending the rest of my night talking on the phone while kicking my monitor for giving out on me.

Maybe you guys could help, I've had the monitor for about five years, heavy usage so I think it's just burnt out. Anyway, last night it just shut off and said check signal. I ran it through the original video card and it worked so I put the upgrade back in after cleaning it. It loads up, works for five minutes, then pulls the same routine. I go back to the original and now it wont even pick up the signal. It is the monitor right?

Could be the cables, but if you've had it 5 yrs then it's more likly just the monitor itself. Just hope it's nothing more serious like your graphics card or motherboard.

If it's not a flat screen monitor then those tend to give out after that many years. Time for an upgrade.

I talked with my cousin who agreed that it was the monitor. After guiding me through taking it apart and searching for the fan (he thought it might be overheating) he was surprised when I told him there was no fan. Apparently the thermometer in the monitor that enables auto shutoff has finally quit on me, though there's nothing wrong with the monitor itself. Thanks for your help guys.

On the Too Human side, lots of work so I doubt I'll be able to get on until the weekend, see you guys in a few days.

Yeah, it's no problem. I really have no use for any lvl 1 runes right now anyway. All my Lvl 2's are filled and I'm just working on quests for my lvl 3's. That and trying to find Aesir armor.

I'll admit, it's definitely challenging to pair with a commando. There's no "sharing" since both classes can one-shot most enemies and it's all about who gets there first - which is almost always the commando, since they have that whole "range" thing. :)

That said, maybe it just means you pull waaaaay more rooms at once! With that much killing power, we just need more fodder... amirite?

yup co-op is too easy since almost everyone can solo co-op. That 1 part in Hel towards the beginning is somewhat tough solo for a zerker though (you know the big open room with rockets and undead coming from all angles).

I do need the unstopable achievement through, sadly in IF, which isnt really zerker or commando friendly lol.

I remember co-op'n with a zerker and he would slide into a group of mobs and by the time he got there they were all dead. He got quite upset after about the 10th time of that happening lol

I was on till 10:30 by myself after you left...

I did find a neat way to quickly get more air kills for my grav charm. Start at 1-2 on HoH and just do that bridge section. If done right, it would be a good place to get any number of quests completed where you need easy kills. I got about a 150 kills per play off it. It only takes about 5 mins if that each time. Got from 4500 air kills to 6000 in two hours or so.

I also need the IF Unstoppable. I only died once half way through before, but it was a bogus death. Mount killed a troll, it died, I walked through it's disappearing dead body and died for some reason.

Anyway, looks like I won't be able to make it tonight. :( GF is coming over and probably won't want me to play. Why couldn't I find one that likes to play too?

Oh well, I want to see that charm in action when we next play. It will be a while till I can get mine finished.

I was on till 10:30 by myself after you left...

I did find a neat way to quickly get more air kills for my grav charm. Start at 1-2 on HoH and just do that bridge section. If done right, it would be a good place to get any number of quests completed where you need easy kills. I got about a 150 kills per play off it. It only takes about 5 mins if that each time. Got from 4500 air kills to 6000 in two hours or so.

Well, it's the bridge with the maze type walls on it. It has two item pillars on it. You get the first wave as soon as you walk onto the bridge. The second and third wave are smaller and are in the middle path of the maze. The fourth wave is the far right path. Finally, the fifth wave is on the other side of the maze right in front of the door to the next area.

James, I'd actually gotten the Unstoppable for Helheim just recently, but made that comment that I'd have gotten it last night if I didn't already have it, since you did an incredible job keeping my squishy butt alive. ;) LOVE running with a well-played Bio!

Magnum - nah, 2-handed weapons are the large single swords, staves, or hammers that take two hands to use. Dual-wielding is using two weapons (swords or staves) simultaneously, one in each hand. (Berserkers are the only cl*** that can dual-wield.)

But yeah, I'll look through my blueprints tonight and see what I have for Altruist's gear. I know I can get you a chestpiece and I think one other, but I'll have to check to be sure.

Damn, last night was a good night for TH... got an epic 2H Bio staff on a solo 3-4 run, found Aesir Vambraces of the Killing Word at the armor shop, and completed my epic gravity charm with RecGamer's expert help. Good times :D

Well, Rec actually lagged out at one point. We think that might of had something to do with it, but still not sure. Either way, no big loss. Got a lot of good loot from it. Ah yeah, sorry man, I saw your message this morning. I only had about a half hour to play, so just worked on leveling a new bio to get that "five level 10s" achievement. I was already running late when I finished, so I shut down immediately after returning to Aesir.

Alright, my account has finally been activated so now I can post. My GT is X IrishTerror X and I have a Lvl 50 Human Defender on the right path. I'm mostly looking for any Epic armor(for my achievement) and Aesir armor for my guy. Anyone that would like to help me do some runs I'll be up for it. Oh yea, even though I have a 50 I'd still consider myself a noob at the game seeing how I don't really know what armor is what. It's fun if you like TBS games to begin with, but it's pretty streamlined - perhaps too much so for the die-hards.

I'm an old-school Civ fan - I played Civ 1 back before most of you were born :) - and while I like this edition on the console, it's a pretty stripped down version of all the Civ concepts and gameplay that we've grown to love. Some of the removals are good ideas for console play (like the lack of workers, the happiness system, civil disorder, etc) and help prevent it from bogging down in needless maintenance.

However, some limitations just seem unnecessary - you can't choose map size or customize the world (landmass, age, water, climate, etc) like you can in the PC games, you can't pick the number of civs or the starting age or anything like that. There are a lot of scenarios included that do give you some more customized options for games, but if you're playing the basic single player, you essentially get the same world size with 4 other nations every time. You just pick Single Player, choose a nation, and the game starts, so I really miss some of the customization options for standard games.

That said, there are some cool new additions like Ancient Artifacts (discovery rewards that act sort of like Wonders, but you find them rather than building them) and first-to-research affects for all technologies, and I'd like to see those make it into the next PC iteration.

Anyway, I like it and I'm having fun with it, but I wonder if the depth and replayability will be there in the long run. I haven't tried multiplayer yet and I'm sure that will help, but I don't know if I really want to unless there's decent cooperative options. (Which I doubt, unfortunately.)

IMO, download the demo of the XBLM and check it out, that'll give you a good idea of what the game contains and what it doesn't.

Yep, most of the same winning conditions are included, but a bit more simplified - you have Cultural, Economic, Technology, and Domination victories, and they're similar to the ones you're already familiar with, just more accessible. A Cultural victory, for instance, means accumulating 20 total Great Persons, Wonders, and/or converted cities... at which point the United Nations wonder becomes available. Build the UN wonder first and you win the game - there's no rep factor with other nations and voting process like the PC versions. Domination is more straightforward, too - you just have to attack and capture the capital city of every other civilization, rather than literally wiping everyone off the map.

Yes, you can save games and all that; the only exception is the online "Game of the Week" feature, b/c it's competitive and saving can facilitate cheating.

Scrolling and the UI in general is a lot better than you might think. For one, the maps aren't huge, so you don't HAVE to manually scroll far. You generally don't have to even manually scroll that much, but when you do, it's done using the right thumbstick. Mostly you pan around the map by selecting different cities using the two shoulder buttons, or by selecting different units using left and right on the D-pad.

Well, I'll be canceling my XBL service here soon. The economic downturn the stockmarket has been reflecting lately has finally reached me. I got my hours cut in almost half today, and I'll need to be making some diplomating choices on my spending habbits for a good while. I know 50 bucks isn't that much compared to what I'll have to make up for the lost hours, but it'll help a little. My service was actually supposed to be renewed at the beginning of Nov.

It was fun while it lasted, and I hope to come back to game with you guys again soon. Until then I'm trying to make sure I at least have internet for a good while to make the new job hunt easier. That should mean you'll at least get to see me around here.

To those who have been asking about TH co-op lately (IrishTerror and DeadKevin, at least) - apologies that I haven't gotten into any games with you guys of late, been immersed in Fable 2 with my g/f - she's actually playing a 360 game for the first time ever, so I'm loathe to put in another game for fear it may break the spell. O_O

Anyway, I'll be around and hopefully be able to dust off my Stormblades soon :)

I know what you mean SuperJay. I don't expect to see myself on Too Human anytime soon unless I need to trade with someone. Fable 2 is just so, addicting. I can't tear myself away from it. Of course playing the same game all the time becomes quite boreing, so I feel sure over the weekend I'll put in some TH time. In this case I'll drop you a FR Gindin. Also, Jay (If I may) feel free to donate to my cause on Fable 2 if you happen to see that magic orb of mine floating around you at anytime.

Anyone else planning on playing TH again during the Dec TH Days? I'm going to try and break out my cyberserker in the evenings of one or both scheduled days; keep an eye out (either add me or look on the TooHumanMembers list) if you wanna play.
