So now I finally get why all of the opinions vary so widely on this game....

I've just finished the single-player campaign, ending up with a level-28 bio-engineer. It was fun, though the obvious frustrations (poor camera, horrible auto-lock-on feature, etc) applied.

Then on a whim before trading in the game, I started up a champion character. Only one level in and this guy is sliding around 10x faster than my engineer! He makes my level 28 guy look positively sluggish.

I don't quite understand why this is, but given the amount of frustration I had melee-ing with my engineer, I can see how people think this game is a lot more fun with a different class.

I started w/ an engineer after hearing about the horrible death cut scene, in an attempt to die less often. I had no idea it would mean the rest of the play would feel like molasses. I'm betting a lot of other reviewers did the same.

No, they rolled Berserkers and poorly played champions and died 20+ times a level.

Im convinced reviews snowball: Meaning, one preview comments on a genuine flaw, then another picks it out, so as not too look stupid etc. In the end youve just got 10 reviewers going into the game with a list of problems in there head..

Err no. The game does have issues that need to be addressed, Sytempunkt. But on the flip side, it has really good concepts too, like the combat system.

I play a great zerker, KahLriK. I died and I still thought the game was good but not great.

The one-dimensional positive reviews and comments are just as bad if not worse than the one-dimensional negative reviews and comments people are making. The fact the people here are toohuman.net go on witch hunts for people that have actual valid points even though it is negative is just sad.

bioengineer if you know how to use him properly is very useful.....especially in co-op with a maxed berserker

The only way i die with my beserker now is by sliding at a rocket goblin, but right before making contact with him he launches about 8-10 rockets and kills me.
OR If I'm not paying attention when "ping-ponging" a bunch of enemies and hit a lot of the explosive guys in a row.

^^ This. It's funny that ppl think zerkers die all the time.

I rolled a champion first and thought it was pretty cool, and then I created a zerker, went straight to 50 and have barely touched the champ since. Going back to the champ just makes me sleepy and bored. :)
