View Full Version : Reflections after 200 hrs and full epic set

For the most part I really enjoyed TH. But the more I played the more certain aspects bugged the hell out of me. Spending 150 hrs farming my epic set didnt bother me as much as having to fight the same enemies for 150 hrs. I honestly dont think the drop rate needs to be changed at all. I do believe that if the "best" drops are going to be that rare then there should be a ****load more content to support it. I think I ended up doing something like 75ish Grndl runs 15-20 belt runs and around 20 full helheim runs. At a certain point it stops being fun and starts being all about finishing the set cause you already pumped 100 hours into it.
One of the things that didnt bug me at first, but got progressively more frustrating was the camera system. Granted there are different degrees of proximity to the character but I found the constant auto focusing was a huge pain in the *** in a game that already isnt easy in the targeting department. Id be firing off fierce attacks at long range then the camera would auto correct to a new angle and my shots are then going off in a weird *** angle away from all the enemies. I think the ability to manually move the view angle would have been much easier to deal with. Can't even begin to count how many times I tried to kill goblins with a gun or a fierce attack around a troll and ended up hitting the troll.
Epic sets stats are piss poor. If there was a vendor that either sold an item that removed a rune or removed all runes from a piece of armor this would be an easy fix and would be something that id love to see in DLC. My Cyber BioE body has health +10% three times on it... wth really...
Those were really the only negative issues I had with TH. The Rune and charm system I thought kicked ***. The color runes idea was very nice to have and mess around with. One of my 200 hours i'm sure was spent just screwing around with all the different colors. Only thing here that id like to see is the ability to preview what a color would look like on a piece without having to buy it but that's really not a big deal. I thought the story was really well done just really not enough of it. Coop was a nice feature. Sucks that it had to be scaled back to 2p b/c it really feels like the game was intended to be played in Coop as opposed to single player (tank class and only 1 class that can heal).
That said I feel like I got well worth my money out of TH and im hoping some DLC comes out before too long b/c id like to keep playing but I have no desire really to put in another 200 hrs possibly to complete another class with epic set.

Having a school and a job has nothing to do with how much hours you put in the game.

I'm a 4th year uni student and I work part time and I still managed to get around 85 hrs into the game.

good review, and i agree pretty much with everything you said. why go for epic if the stuff isnt that good? but it looks awesome so you want it anyways. but pretty much the best way to go for a stacked character is aesir gear with all red runes inserted. hopefully they can fix some stuff with patches ect. and fix the dupe glitch, ruins the economy.

freshman at the UofA, work part time, i only managed to get about 50 hours, seeing that i actually did my HW, now that i am paying for school, i see it more important to continue to do my work rather than play games, on the weekends after i get out of work, i do play games, but i tend to go out with friends too...200 hours is ridiculous but if you have insomnia or something like that, or just a lot more free time, its possible but that means that you averaged about there is about 408 hours since the game was released, and you played 200 of it, that is a lot of time spent each day at about 15 hours a day, or all day on the weekends

My personal opinion is that they didn't just go crazy with the damn polarity enemies they went completely insane with them, now I understand the need for them once and a while but one or more every group is completely freakin rediculous guys. I play as the berzerker and I don't want to play with any other class. I understand that you put a LOT of time on the commando but I don't want to play the commando when I pick the Berzerker, putting the polarity enemies in every single fight and forcing me to sit back with ranged weapons even finishers is a complete distruction of gameplay. As I have stated before I Love this game, the story line, and the gameplay with the exception of the polarity enemies with ranged attacks. I absolutely believe that you should NEVER force a class out of it's designated playstyle by putting monsters that will do this in the game. Please pretty please get rid of the freakin rocket goblins (especially polarity gobs or freezing lazer trolls), they slow down the game with the amount of things the console has to show and I can never dodge them quite the way I think and in the mean time I am getting hit by enemies I can't see to fight. Also the addition of a sprint even a limited one would be sweet especially in cyberspace. oh yes and I LOVE axes two handed mostly they but the rare 50 dual is disgustingly fast, if I get him going he turns into a murdermachine Disassembling corpses before the soul leaves them sustains me. My philosophy is that I am going to run up to you with an axe that is both taller and heavier than I am and I am going to swing this thing as hard as I can and if it hits you something is going to be missing off you, you may be able to get me...but I am definitely going to kill you. So people like me may make up a small portion but I will buy the next game so please try and consider me and the style I play by in the next one or future DLC thank you.Finally TH staff understand that if I didn't love this game these things wouldn't be worth posting about I would just sit the game down in some dark corner and hope that noone ever finds it there (like Beowulf which i wanted to shoot myself in the face with a nail gun 4 minutes into the game) the only reason I posted this is hopefully you read this and make the game better. ( God I hope they read this)

oh and also i totally agree about the charms in cyberspace next time at least let us see it and what is it hurting if we have our equipment and make changes to it in cyberspace? I still don't play as any other class than Berzerker and defender. thanks again

If I'm building robots to kill you and certain types of robots hurt beserkers then i'm going to include them in my army, and have them in every fight. Why would an enemy not do this?

It forces you to use all of your tools and to actually think instead of holding the right stick for the whole fight. Much better experience that way.

By the way the robot army didn't pay 70 dollars for the game either so don't act like i don't have the right to state my opinion.

i have no school damn educational bored of govners.. so i play alot im on 50 hours with my cyber champion at the moment and found **** all epic or aesir armour yet:(

im on 37 hours with my level 40 defender and 20hours with the berzerker.. bleh

for one u shouldn't pay 50+ dollars for game just to suck ba**s at it.
if i pay'd 50 dollars for somthing im not going to play it 70 hours.. im going to make sure i get my moneys worth out of it.
(i pay'd 20 for TH an im not going to let my money go to waste im going to spend some time on it about 200+ hrs atleast so i get the full potenital... )

The commando also has it counter-enemy: Dark Polarities.

Light polarities are no prob since you just shoot them down but the dark ones can really stick it to you if you don't pay attention.

I do agree that playing as a zerker and having to pull out and shoot is kind off silly, but if it wasn't for that I think I might get bored with the berserker awfully quick. It's not like the light polarities are a real issue, the second you see one just aim on the nearest baddy and launch a grenade. 1-5 secs of ranged combat and you can go melee like hell again.

It would've been different if there were complete groups of light polarities all the time offcourse...

My complaint was about the frequency at which my Zerker is Forced to sit back and shoot because of the explosive/DoT enemies. I don't mind them being in the game I just think they should tone it down so I can go more than 30 seconds in melee combat before they put the things in.

I still feel there is no reason to have ballistic resistant polarity trolls so you pretty much get damaged any way you attack this thing. If you mount the polarity trolls they do massive amounts of damage when you hop off and they're ballistic resistant so you can't do anything to it without it getting a totally cheap hit on you. There is NO excuse for that at all.

The only thing they really need to focus on fixing the totally cheap hits the mobs get on you like the before mentioned trolls, instead of trying to fix the duping plague or the occasional disappearing enemies. The commando's I've played with never had any problem with anything except the ballistic resistant trolls. Also the groups of nothing but polarities are more fun to deal with rather than the mixed DoT enemies that wind up looking almost completely like therest of them in the Helheim run.

The game makes you utilise everything in your arsenal, if the bezerker was such a complete melee class why can it use ranged weapons? You know it's not hard to get out of a bd situation with polarities, drop a spider, roll a bit shoot a few pop a grenade. And well if you die, then you die, ready for round two.

I completly agree with your review and ideas.

The worst part of this game was the "only 4 levels".

I do believe epic farming took away from this game by making it more of a chore than fun. It took me 122hrs to get my champ gear and I was burnt out after that. I wanted to build up the other characters but lost motivation to run the same levels over and over again and spend that much time for gear thats not even the best in the game. I duped the rest of my gear and dont regret any part of it. The game isnt a chore for me now and I play for fun.

I just feel they make the melee classes fight with ranged weapons or fierce attacks too much. All I want is fo them to tone them down, not to get rid of them.

Adding a few here and there or the occasional groups of nothing but polarities like in ice forest or world serpent are necessary and good for variety in gameplay. I just dont like them peppering every group and at random times during a fight so I get DoT for using a melee class thats all. If they don't change it in the next game I simply won't buy it (though now I am planning on buying the next one I will read the reviews first)
