Soothing and Aggression only take effect in co-op; soothing reduces the enemy's focus on you and increases the enemy's focus on your teammate, while aggression does the opposite. Hybrid damage is another word for plasma. Yeah, I don't know why they just didn't call it plasma; hybrid is confusing, hence your question.
