It's that time again; MARCH MADNESS.

As I type this, the Selection Sunday show is on. Many teams hopes are about to die... :p

Too bad my team isn't in it this year. :( Oh well, next year, UNC!

I am going to make a group we can all compete against each other on as soon as the selection show is over. Stay tuned.

EDIT: Group name: sk.net
Password: Odin
Site: espn.go.com

And for old times sake, here's a link to last years final.

Being a UConn fan I don't have a lot of interest in the tournament this year. I also didn't watch near enough to put up a reasonably respectable bracket. I will watch when I get a chance but the Huskies just spitting the bit about halfway through the season pretty much ruined college BB for me this year.

I felt the same with UNC... I had trouble watching games where my favourite team was getting killed. I still followed the sport though, and think I have some decent brackets. Nothing to brag about, but decent I would think.

I have about 8 or so. :p I have Michigan State winning in a few (I like them as a sleeper.. they did it last year, and did not lose too much), Nova in one, Kansas in a few, Cuse in a few, and West Virginia in one.

I'm hoping my Siena Saints make it to the Sweet Sixteen. It's not just that it'd be there first time to make it through the first weekend, it's actually the matchups I'm waiting for there. Siena would meet either Duke or Lousiville in the S16. Siena has never played Duke, I don't think, so that would be a nice game for them. Louisville elminated Siena last year and getting revenge this year would be very, very sweet.

As per usual I will pick my alma mater to win it all, even though that means I have no chance of winning the pool.

I just submit mine, possibly, I definitely saved it. I've got Siena over N. Iowa 77-74 in the championship game. It probably sounds like a ridiculous pick, but I went game by game and took it seriously. Probably the only differences being that a) I'm not an expert on college basketball; and b) I tend to pick who I want to win more than who I might feel has the better chance of winning.

While I like your enthusiasm, and I live in the same town as UNI, this would never happen. It is more likely I will be struck by lightning 3 times in my life than seeing this final ever in our existence.

I was trying to post my bracket, and I may have to use it in a different format. Either way, Kentucky has it this year. Kansas makes it to the dance with them, and in the end I think Kentucky's got a team which will need to be reckoned with throughout the tourney.

Now Vandy lookin sloppy against Murray St., Sam Houston giving Baylor trouble...

I hate being at work for the tourney. I miss being in school where I could just not go to class and drink all day watching the games.

you fail:p

Kentucky has no depth and no experience. Plus their coach is a joke. He has destroyed 3 college programs by playing ineligible students. Knasas beat that pos of a coach in '08 and will do so this year, assuming that Kentucky even makes it to the dance...

If you look at the team statistics. Murray State is in the top 5 in everything. Maybe that means they play weaker competition. But there something to be said for that, especially in a sport like basketball where you basically just have to throw the ball through a hoop. Playing in the Big East may just be training good teams to lose. Overpowering basketball skill does not provide as much of a cushion as say overpowering football.

In football players tackle sooner and block wider lanes. These things proportionally affect the yardage gained. In basketball you throw the ball through a hoop. It's a binary equation, it either goes in or out. A lined up swish counts the same as a heaved bank shot. In basketball there's a lot to be said for the team who expects to throw it in every night.

You're biased...your Jayhawk ties have you blinded. They don't need the depth cuz all those kids are young and can go 60 minutes. As far as eligibility goes, well...they're on the court right now, so we'll see what happens afterwards.

I ended up going 12/16 yesterday. Pissed as hell about Georgetown. One of my Elite 8s. Still hold the top slot after yesterday, and so far today is looking good. 3/3 so far :D So now I'm sitting at 15/19 and hope Purdue pulls through.

The squad coach Bill Self directs is that complete, that deep and that savvy. It’s the best college basketball team we’ve seen in the one-and-done era.

I think that would go to North Carolina 2009. Or a team that won. :p

I lost money, lots of it, and a TV:mad:Lets hear the story... I pretty much took it in stride, but I slept through the first 34 minutes of it and came away thinking that KU pretty much doomed themselves* as if they had played all 40 minutes like they did that 6 then they would have blown them out.

* The dooming of themselves is hardly a surprise as they seem to do it far too often... Anyhow, I was actually somewhat** surprised by my reaction when that wide open three went in... “Nice Shot, kid.”

It was a hell of a ballsy shot and sadly I'm not sure anyone on the KU team would have been real comfortable shooting a dagger when the smart thing would have been to milk time off the clock.

** Its often the case when my team starts to embarrass themselves and their name (not that KU ever really did in the parts I watched, so this is more of a Chiefs and Royals thing) I end up cheering for when it goes from bad to worse...

Not being a troll MC25...but the your comments throughout this thread are fantastic....

According to ESPN's website, ONLY 12 brackets were correct (out of 4.78 MILLION) at the Sweet 16 stage..

Kansas's loss REALLY #$@$ up everyone's bracket.

Well, I was screeming at the top of my lungs, then jumping up and down when ku made a basket, stole the inbound made the basket, then forced a turn-over. On the next trip down the floor that kid hit that three. I threw my beer out the window. Throwing my beer wasn't enough, so I picked my shoe I slamed it on the floor it bounced up and hit the tv slightly cracking it in the corner, (i know who throws a shoe, right?) My tv was on its last leg anyway... More importantly is the money I lost on that game. If Kansas State wins it all, I'll come out ahead.

Kansas and KC teams have a troubled sports history. I'm still loyal and will not root for any other teams outside the big12.

You could say that again about Kansas City troubled sports history... As for the shoe... Ouch, that hurts.

I sort of root for the underdog after my teams are done... Mostly because of my KC roots and always being the underdog but I won't root for Kansas State*. (Texas, not that there still in it, and will always root agaist Duke, Kentucy, and/or UNC in college basketball.)

* Mostly because I don't want to hear about it if they win.

Fixed that...;)

I could add so many other teams to that list. I was going to add more about the psychology of those teams and their fans, but it's not worth it...

My youngest sister goes to KState, and will brag about it for ages, no matter how many time KU beats KSU. Still I will root for them and Baylor.

Thank you. :D

I really only meant to imply that other sports have teams I don't root for... I don't root for the Lakers, the Cowboys, the Yankees, etc.

The only real exception is when a player is getting close to the end of his career without winning a ring. I never bought any hats, shirts, etc for the Lakers when they had Karl Malone but I did root for him, errr. them.

Wow, this tournament is amazing.Minus Duke winning... (and my teams losing) yes, yes it is.

This tournament really reminds me of the college football season a few years ago were it seemed like number 1 lost every weekend. (Mizzou end up playing KU for number 1 at Arrowhead that year and won.)

Anyhow, at this point I'm cheering for the field to take out Duke and nothing else really matters... :D

* Full Disclosure: While I consider myself a Jayhawk fan first and foremost in basketball I pretty much root for Missouri in everything else.

I pretty much blame the fact that neither team was worth a damn in college football when I was growing up... I honestly never became a fan till I was in the Navy and at that point anything that reminded you of home (aka Mizzou) was a good thing.
