Well he did it again this time with the 150m world record borken http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0d69bXakUo

is anything he can't do? as a young sprinter myself i am aiming for 10 seconds or lower for the 100m but this guy just blows me away just from watching.

do you guys like him or what? whats your thoughts? should he just go all out full sprint as long as he cant and set his best or just keep showing people up time and time again? either way i love this guy.

GO USAIN! :)

He is just freakish. Sprinters of his caliber normally aren't as tall. He is 6'5" or something. His stride length is insane. He isn't beating everyone by stride rate he is just getting so much more distance out of every stride. He makes the other people who are among the fastest in the world look slow by comparison. It is almost unfair to the other runners. His races are almost anticlimactic now. Kind of like watching Michael Phelps, in an individual sport when someone proves they are leaps and bounds above everyone else it is amazing to watch but the competition suffers overall due to lack of suspense. The competition element is gone, you just watch to see how much he is going to shatter the records by.

Getting into the 10 second neighborhood in the 100m is a big feat. Especially considering only the top 100 or so in NCAA Division 1 college do it in a given year across the whole US. Best of luck doing it. I found from my experience sprinting that your best bet is take your current time and just focus on taking your PR down by .1 at a time or even fractions of that. That way you aren't focusing on getting large chunks of time down or a specific far off number and getting discouraged. If you try to beat your PR by just a little bit every time on the track the big progress will come over the course of a season or a year of training. When you get to the end and look back those little differences add up.

US NCAA D1 results from last year.

IDK about now. But during the Olympics he was so damn full of himself that i couldnt stand him. To me, he came across as a giant prick. Still, i can admit he is quite a fast runner.

I hope he has since learned to be a bit more humble.

10 seconds :o I got 13.12 last year in gym class, I find track to be insanely boring personally.

But Usain is just crazy, phelps is an A-hole imo. Idk what it is but he just annoys the poo out of me.

well so far my PB for 100m is 11.89 (i did that when i was 14) im turning 15 this year i hope to do some where around 11.5 i seem to run better with lots of people around me like in the 200m to get in for my region i had to beat the person that beat me by 5 metres the first time, turns out at one stage i was at least 15 meters in front of him in that race i won by about 10 tho.

oh and my best 200m time is around 23-24 i didn't get a good look at state trials i got 5th but i was 7th fastest out of my age group there so i don't know i love my sprinting and thanks maawdawg for those now i really wanna get my goal of 10 seconds! :)

Usain is a god.

He is just a freak of nature, though. He is very tall, but most tall people are not nearly co-ordinated enough to run that fast.

even if you watch his style he sorta wobbles side to side unless most sprinters who are all stiff looking where as he is more relaxed and loose so to seem i just wish he would take a bloody race seriously and sprint the whole bloody thing! so far only WR he has had trouble with was the 200m one.....

A physicist said if he had ran the whole 100m, it would have been like a 9.55

i believe he would probably go lower then that but you never know he just looks like he's having fun each race. love watching him run though its funny watching him get out of the blocks since he's so tall.

He is crazy fast. I really hope for his sake, and the sake of the sport in general, that he isn't taking any performance enhancers.

100m in 9.58 at the world championships. He lowered the record by 0.11 which is absolutely unheard of. Tyson Gay was in second place was 9.71 which was a US record, a time which would have won every other race in history except this one and the Olympics from last year.

Bolt will probably shatter the 200m record soon as well.

The videos will disappear fast most likely but doing a google search should let you find them.

This thread is dedicated to the greatest runner of all time, Usain Bolt.

He broke 200 m Record today, set it at 19.19, 0.11 less than his previous record. Before he set the last record, people said there was no way anyone would get near Micheal Johnson's previous record in 50 years. He has shattered that record.

Oh, did I mention the closest to him in this race was 0.62 behind him?

He is the reigning 100m and 200m champion, and will most likely be on the 4x100m relay winning team.

Some say he would dominate the 400m if he ran that too.

Unreal.

I just watched it. That was insane. The rest of the field was in a totally different race. The next guy was like 19.81... Crazy.

He is actually from the same part of Jamaica as my father. The families probably know each other.

It was the craziest thing I have ever seen. I am speechless.

The only this brings up really is the steroid controversy; it looks like many people are starting to doubt him.

Merged the 2 Bolt threads. He is insane. I really hope it doesn't come out down the road that he was on PEDs. If it does track as even a fringe mainstream sport will never recover from it.

Ha, that is funny. The 400 is a completely different beast. It is the toughest race in track.

Anyways he isn't American, and I have no loyalties to Jamaica.

BTW the last ten times the 100m world record was broken it has either been a Jamaican born Jamaican, a Jamaican born Canadian, or an American born American. I think us and Jamaica have the 100m business cornered.

He used to run the 400, and was really good, but he dropped it to focus on the 200. He then took up the 100.

As someone who is forced to run 5 times a week every morning at 0600, I feel the same way as Doc from Back to the Future III. When asked if anybody ran in the future anymore since everybody had cars, Doc replied that they ran for fun and recreation. The cowboy looked at him and said,

"Run for fun? What the hell kind of fun is that?!":D

well turns out i didn't do a usain bolt today at my own district trails.

I ran a 24.?? but they some how screwed up the places and gave me a 4th when i got a second it was close but it was bull****! and they won't change it either, aiming for a 23.99 by the end of the year and by next year i want a 22.?? god i hate district they don't even care (before someone says that i got 4th, i thought i got 3rd then everyone said no you got 2nd not 3rd so screwed much?)

i like what usain said, "im not worried about trying to go under 19 because if i do i won't be able to walk the next day" something close to that wasn't listening all ears so yeah either way its true! last year i ran a 23.7 or close to that for state trials and i couldn't walk the next day at all (that got me 8th in my state for 14 year boys)

Well my son is an American born Jamaican :D, so I guess we should start training soon. He's 3 now.

I was thinking swimming might be his thing but those facts can't be ignored. Maybe my daugther can get the womens' records. WooooHooo.
