I just got "Elton 60" on Blu-Ray and I am reminded of how much I love this guy's music.

Anyone else feel the same?

The "Elton 60" concert is phenomenal.

It's also on DVD, if anyone wants to buy it.

Candle in the Wind and Your Song are two of my favortie songs ever.. I use Candle for a warmup song before shows, or when I'm doing accoustic covers.

The Lion King work he did was amazing... Circle of Life is a beautiful song.

In "Elton 60", he does Your Song at the very end, which is quite nice.

Unfortunately, he didn't do Candle In The Wind or Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Though I suspect this is because of Candle In The Wind's connection to his own sorrow at Diana's death (he was close to her, and it was his birthday, so he probably didn't want a song like that in there), and because he can no longer do the falsetto in GYBR due to vocal surgery he had done in the '90s.

Yep. Like John Denver, he's one of those guys that gets a rep for cheese but is actually a great musician / singer / songwriter (?).

And yes, I listen to John Denver, right after I finish up a Sepultura album. What of it?

Gay or not, the man has more talent than 99% of the heterosexual hacks out there.

I think talent is more important than sexual preference, but if you want to go with a low-blow, then whatever.

EDIT:

Sorry, but I find it stupid to go for the "gay" comment in regards to Elton John. Why should it be called "Homo Hero" simply because he's gay? Should Guitar Hero: Van Halen be called "Hetero Hero" because Van Halen (to my knowledge) was straight?

I know, I know, it's just a comment, but I really thought we could avoid such childishness.

Elton John does make beautiful music, and I often listen to his stuff.

As far as the gay comments.. some gay people bring it on themselves. I have gay friends; I'm not homophobic. I've actually discussed this topic with my gay friends.

People who are so flamboyant like Elton John create a brand, an image, that consists mainly of being gay. If I went around and was so outspoken and fixated on my sexual preference, people would call me a pervert. I'm not a pervert, just like I don't think gay people are perverted. I don't put up an image of myself that consists solely of my sexual preference though. The gay people who do have to deal with people immediately commenting on that. Just like the rockers have to deal with people commenting on their status as heterosexual sex symbols.

It's not childish to comment on the fact that Elton John is gay.

Be that as it may, this
Homo Queero! was a pointless abstract that does nothing. Everyone knows he is gay, that does not make him any less of a musical genius who has been preforming for longer than most of us have been alive.

His sexual preferrence means nothing to me.. I don't point out guys who like girls as being straight nor would I a guy who likes guys.

That vocal surgury is unfortunate.. although he's done well to adjust. Another reason to be very impressed by this man. I personaly have taken a lot from his performances.. His costumes his charisma his talent and vision.. None can be matched. He truly is a musical gift to the world.

Part of me was almost disappointed when he re wrote Candle for Princess Diana but it is beautiful so I have little to complain about.. It's probably the part of me that misses Marilyn :)

Elton's younger self reminds me a lot of Mr. Humphries from the British comedy show "Are You Being Served?":

Great show. I have the first 6 seasons on DVD (Mr. Grainger's actor died after Season 6, so I don't really like it from there on).

So it's been two weeks and I still have these songs stuck in my head. Of course, this has been helped along by me finding the MP3s for Elton 60:

http://mp3xclusive.com/release-elton-john_-_elton-60-live-at-madison-square-garden-mp3-0x6105b.html

You have to pay for them, obviously (only 20 cents each), and you have to download a separate platform thing to get them, but they download as high-quality MP3 files that you can do whatever you want with and can be re-downloaded at any time for free. The extra platform thing also serves as a search engine for all the tracks on their store, though it seems you need to go to their actual site in order to add money to your "wallet".

I tried to find these on iTunes before, but they only have about 1/4 of the tracks (there's about 39 or so of them in total). This group is every song from the concert.

(A note: this is the first time I have ever paid for an MP3 download. I don't feel ashamed in saying that my money went towards supporting an amazing artist like Elton John)
