Do you have any stand up comedians that you think shouldn't be missed? These are three that I find hysterical who all have multiple Comedy Central half hour or hour shows that run on occasion.

Stephen Lynch - he does his shows as a teacher teaching his crowd of students.
Superhero - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKhl6--cmIQ
Special Fred - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYpmT2Ie7FA
Talk to me- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCCb87vvK_U
Lullaby- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZMysQalCuI
Special Olympics- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IFUNIa2NU8
(yes you go to hell if you laugh at this one)

Stephen Wright - deadpan delivery, ironic humor, easily the best comedian I have ever seen live

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPWGfnJ9X7c
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1HYUyhujl4
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAmEu0Jdm6A

Patton Oswalt - funny geek comedy
no real good ones on youtube but he is on Comedy Central really often.

Jim Gaffigan

Lewis Black, Bill Hicks, Steven Wright, and recently Frank Caliendo among others whose names I can't think of.

Does Don Cherry count as a comedian?? "Coach's Corner" is one of the funniest shows on (Canadian) TV... :D

I like Lewis Black a lot, Dennis Leary as well.

The lack of George Carlin on these lists is appalling.

What no kreditz for iderrrz Maaw??????

Anyway.Right now I am liking Kathy Griffin - did not like her before the D List show.

Ron White has also hit my funny button. He performs with a cigar and scotch and was the funniest blue collar comic in my opinion.

Dave Chappelle, young Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, and Katt williams are usually good.

I grew up on Monty Python, Faulty towers and Benny Hill. Good old British comedy. Anyone watch Top Gear....those guys are funny and fast cars...what a mix.

I saw the blue collar comedy tour in its first year going around at the Mohegan Sun. It was a really good show.

I like Carlin, Pryor, and Chris Rock as well. They just aren't my favorites.

Lewis Black is the best in my opinion, but like most stand-up comedians his TV show sucked. Stand-up and TV comedy just don't mix well.

Oh god I do too. The only funny joke that man has ever made is the one about when he worked at burgerking.

"dear god someone get this lady some pickles"

He is definitely funny. This pop tarts thing on comedy central had me rolling.

I just updated my first post with someone I can't believe I forgot originally.

I like so many, and so many are hit and miss. Ron White makes the Blue Collar Comedy Tour not only tolerable, but worth watching. (at least his segment) George Carlin was hilarious, Lewis Black as well. I dug a couple of Chappelle's stand up, his show put him on the radar for me. Chris Rock used to crack me up before he did movies. Brian Posein is hilarious, though not a "huge" name. Patton Oswalt and Kevin James are also good.

Cannot stand Dane Cook. Can't wait for his fad to be OVER.

Mitch Hedberg. All of his jokes are one liners but they're all good.

Personally, I find George Carlin to be more of a philosopher than a comedian. He just tends to interweave jokes into his stories about how screwed up everyone is and what he thinks about some topic at-hand.

That said, I find his style of comedy to be very up-front and honest, and his philosophies coincide with mine almost exactly, which is kind of eerie considering I didn't even watch a single one of his HBO specials until Microsoft put them up on Live Marketplace a few weeks ago.

Katt Williams, Ron White, and Carlin are probably my favorites.
Gilbert Godfrey has some really funny Calista Flockhart jokes, lol.
Joe Rogan is actually a decent comedian. I didn't even know he did comedy until about a year ago when I stumbled across his website. It's weird seeing mr tough guy up there doing comedy.

I like watching Comic Remix on Comedy Central. You get to see the best stuff from some good comedians that fly under the radar.

Dane Cook is to comedy what Brittney Spears is to good music...
Glad no one said Carlos Mencia, or as other comics call him "Carlos beenstealin" cus he steals their material.

If you like Jeff Dunham you should check out Terry Fator. He's not all comedy, but he's got amazing talent. He sings better than a lot of the singers out there w/o even moving his mouth.

George Carlin, Robin Williams (See his HBO special), Jeff Dunham, The Amazing Jonathan, Lewis Black.

Dane Cook was funny, but he was over done. So many people kept reciting his jokes over and over again and they're old news now. Very funny at first, but I don't consider him one of the greats :).

Maawdawg

Robin Williams is definitely funny, in the insane relative sense of funny. I have seen Comedy Central's 30 minute show with Amazing Jonathan and he is really good, I like people who incorporate magic and comedy together in most cases.

I watched Robin Williams: Weapons of Self Destruction last night on HBO. It was good, I had a few hearty laughs out of it. Nowhere near as good as his first HBO special though, in my opinion.

My favorite stand-up show of all time so far is Christopher Titus': Love is Evol. Absolutely hilarious, and anyone who is/has been in any relationship will be able to relate to it.

Do you watch/enjoy any stand up acts?

My wife is a Stand-up Comedy junkie.. She watches many many. Myself not so much. Love George Carlin, Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy Stand-ups. I have a Bill Cosby one that is really good.. But my fave is Bill Hick for sure.

Billy Connoly is always great as well.

Obviously these are well known people.. I don't watch enough to know many "Hidden Gems" other than Russel Peters. :)

I watched Gabriel Iglesies the other night on Comedy Central and he was really good. Here is a list of Stephen Wright quotes I ran across a while ago. There are some videos of him in the OP. If anyone ever gets the chance to go see him it is totally worth it, totally not to be missed if you have the chance, imo.

I merged this with an old(er) comedian/stand-up thread rather than go dig out links again of the ones I like. :)

My wife and I also checked it out for a little while last night too. I agree, while there were some funny parts, it just wasn't the same Robin Williams. Chalk another one up to drugs/alcohol. We actually watched the shortened version of Nick Swardson: Seriously, who Farted? on comedy central last night. That sh*t was funny. That dude cracks me up. He does a bit about gaming on XBL that will speak to every gamer here. I was nearly in tears. The full length DVD has gone on the Christmas list now though.

Eddie Izzard is another one of our favorite acts. His older stuff is some of the best comedy I have seen. My favorite of his is Dress to Kill. And I will always sit down and watch some Eddie Murphy (both Delerious and Raw). We like Dane Cook, Katt Williams, Tommy Daivdson, and Kevin Hart.

I don't know of many other lesser knowns or hidden gems as Shane said. I would love to learn of more though.

Wow... facepalm. I looked through the mass media section and completely missed this. I've posted in here too... Excuse me while I verbally abuse myself... :p

Anyway, I watched some Gabriel Iglesias the other night as well, "I'm not fat, I'm fluffy." Really funny stuff.

I missed Nick Swardson, he's hilarious too. He gave me the idea for my funeral!

Steven Wright, Lewis Black, Mitch Hedberg, Eddie Izzard, Ricky Gervais, and of course the old masters: Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, Bill Cosby, etc.

Also, Frank Caliendo does some killer impressions. His George W. Bush one is almost scary, it's so good. (The first time I heard the voice, I thought it was GWB himself.) Do yourself a favor and just search for "Frank Caliendo" on YouTube. You'll laugh, a lot.

I liked him alot, too bad he passed so young.

Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, Bill Cosby, etc.

All of these plus George Carlin. I actually listened to Bill Cosby: Himself within the last month or so, that is my favorite of his.

Add me to the Mitch Hedburg pile (love the Kit Kat joke so hard).

I also like some Dave Attel.

I heard and like everyone listed so far... here are some that I didnt see listed

Brian Regan - Soda would shoot out my nose if I listened to this guy and drank at the same time.

Daniel Tosh

Patton Oswalt

Doug Stanhope is okay. He did the Man Show with Joe Rogan for a while.

Bobcat Goldthwait - His stand-up is all right but he seems to be funnier when he is interviewed. He has a few great bits he did on the Conan Obrien Show.

Speaking of the Conan Obrien show Triumph the Insult Dog has a few great bits he did that I'm sure you can find on Youtube.

Sarah Silverman - Wow there are a few funny women out there.

Maawdawg

Daniel Tosh is really funny. Tosh 2.0 and his comedy central specials are always good for a laugh.

Lisa Lampanelli is my favorite female comedian, hands down.

Whitney Cummings is another really funny female comedian. She goes on Chelsea Handler's show for the opening segment a bit and was really good in the last comedy central roast.

Betty White at the William Shatner roast. I never expected her to be so absolutely filthy, it was like watching your grandmother tell **** jokes. Worlds colliding, but funny. After that Lisa Lampanelli is on after Betty White and she rips people up.

Betty white roast video, skip about 6:50 in. The sych is a bit off but it works.
