Renaissance Faires(Marksmanship, Swordsmanship, and Jousting), Cowboy Action Shooting(Like Ren Faires but with cowboys, and guns), Highland Games(Linville, NC is where I attend the games), and Lumberjack Games(Never visited an event myself but I like the throwing axe competition).
Was curious if anyone else visited these types of events, or participated.

I went to highland games a lot as a kid because my mom sewed those vests that the dancers wear. The ones where they dance around an X made of swords.
I used to hate them, because it was always a long drive into North Carolina from East Tennessee, and there wasn't much for a wee lad to do.
Nowadays I have quite a taste for bagpipe music, ironically.

They've cut back on the games a bit, I remember as a kid they had all kinds of stuff but now the day is mostly sheep herding.

Civil war reinactments anyone?

I'd rather watch people shooting at each other, so yeah it'd be a more entertaining activity. Though all the other events have some type of true sport, past or present involved. Considering they use blanks, it's not really marksmanship, etc either.
Sports are manmade, war isn't.

I've watched lumberjack competitions a few times on TV and a couple times at the Minnesota State Fair. It's a lot more entertaining than most people would think.

Close to where I live there is a Renaissance Fair going on. They have it every year and it lasts around 3 months. Haven't been yet but I am curious to see what they have.
Read a little bit of a brochure and they have shops where you can buy items as well as different eateries. They also have events and different competitions.
People who don't even work there get all dressed up and play the part of a lord or lady. It's pretty funny.
