So last week over Spring Break I went to my Brothers' house in Colorado and we went snowboarding. Now I live in Texas but I've been boarding for a good 8 years now and according to some locals at the place we go to I'm better then most of the regulars that ski there. I also want to move up to Colorado after High School and go to CU at Boulder mainly so I can board.
So I was just wondering if you Ski, Snowboard, or neither. Really just curiosity on my part.

Snowboarding FTW
Hawk, this is really scary...
When I first found that you liked ska, I thought it was interesting as ska is pretty much unknown to a lot of people, and happens to be my favorite genre of music. It was cool to know someone else on the site enjoyed it as well.
Now you're saying you love to snowboard and want to go to CU in boulder when you graduate...
I love snowboarding (hence the avatar?) and I also intend on going to CU after I graduate...
Just thought this was an odd coincedence lol

Well we'll put all 3 announced ska fans in here.
Snowboarding, hands down.
I skied for awhile when I was little, but it was too easy. I hated boarding the first 2 times I tried, but the third time I had a blast, been loving it ever since. I'm dying to go to Colorado for a snowboarding trip...

I started as a skier but now I only ride. I don't go as often as I would like as the nearest good mountain is about a 3-4 hour drive. I definitely enjoy spring skiing/boarding more than dead of winter. Riding in a long sleeve T shirt and jeans is a bonus.
EDIT: make it 4 ska fans. I used to hit a bunch of ska shows at a local club a bunch of years ago but when it closed there isn't much chance of seeing it live anymore. I think that overall it is a genre best enjoyed live.
My favorite show ever was a Spring Heeled Jack (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6O8UlhbvtM, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfdaC6Rc64M) show, Skavoovie and the Epitones (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CABzLXY_qa8) opened.

Haha no arguments there. I'd much rather go light than gear up in multiple layers. Although you can never go wrong with boarding pants...
I love those :D

Couldn't agree more on the pants. Nothing beats a good pair of snowboarding pants.
Don't forget the boots either. In comparison to Ski boots, well... there is no comparison.

Yeah, I normally wear light shell pants, especially if it is really sloppy out. I can't stand the bulky snow pants though. I prefer just to not go boarding if I have to get that bundled up, it kills part of the fun.

I think most people are this way when it comes to snowboarding, Red.
As with me, I just couldn't seem to make a right turn to save my life while going left was a no-brainer. I got so frustrated that I just up and left. The next day, I went out and tore up the slopes like it was nothing
Been loving it ever since.

It is basically like comparing slightly awkward workboots to giant oversized robot feet. The choice is easy.

I love to board as well, but I don't get to do it as often as I'd like. Haven't gone in about two years, and it's killing me.
I don't mind bundling up when I go snowboarding. I've only ever gone in the dead of winter though, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

Skiiers, to put it in decent terms, HATE snowboarders... one of the main reasons because we like to kick the snow around :p

I don't hate snowboarders but you are right about them kicking up the snow pack. But skiing has it's " oh I didn't mean to just turn you I to a snowman" moments too :D

I was almost in the same boat with him/her? The first time I went skiing I fliped and landed on a block of ice. It was okay my knee caps broke my fall. I couldn't walk for a week.

Ha yea definitely.
Actually last Wednesday, my last day, me and my brother were talking to some 70 year olds that were still going strong on skis and they said that they've always hated boarders because (and I quote) "you dang hooligans always cut us skiers off and don't even say sorry". Turns out though they were really cool and they said we were the exception to most all boarders they talk to.:D
Anyways on our first run after that some guy on skis decided to cut me off and literally run over my board. I ended up falling and spraining my wrist. Oh the irony.

The first time I went, I couldn't make a turn and rolled down the hill on the other side into a nice, thick area of trees...
Funny thing is, the worst part wasn't even hitting the trees, it was the rolling and flipping that twisted and nearly broke my knee

That's cuz us boarders are "good for nothin' teenagers" :p

I remember the first time I went the guy at the rental place put me with a goofy stance when I should of been goin with a regular stance so needless to say I hated it. I even ended up takin ski school and I was the worst in the class.
Then the next year my brother ended up teaching me. And now I can go both reg or goofy depending on how I feel.

Ever heard of a double eject yard sale? That is why you shouldn't ski.

I can ride in either stance as well. I normally decide by the stance of the person/people I am riding with. If the other person is riding goofy I will ride regular so we can face each other and talk on the way down. I switch all the time if I am doing a run alone. Being able to swap avoids being front to back with someone, going down a mountain, which messes with conversation most times, "snowboard spooning" as I like to call it.

I suck at both so I chose neither. Every time I go skiing or boarding, I end up hurting myself and not having much fun so it's not worth it.
