Any sprinters/long distance runners here? I'm currently running to get to my goal of 5 miles, 8 minutes per mile or less. What is your breathing rythm (I run 2 steps inhaling, 2 exhaling)? Favorite cadences, if any? Heres the thread to discuss form, practice sessions, and times. This will also be a place for me to record my dates/distance/times for running.

3/13: 4 miles, 32:47
3/15: 4 miles, 34:58
3/16: 1/2 mile, 3:06
3/17: 4 miles, ~32:12 (had to stop for 15 seconds for shoe, timer read 32:27)
3/19: 4 miles, 31:33
3/20: 4 miles, 31:30
3/22: 4 miles, 29:29

gotcha. I was gonna do track for my school, but it interfered with my fencing, which takes priority for me.

i did do long jump aswell in grade 8 and 9 grade 9 average jump was around 5metres, not that great but i had to quit since it hurt my knees to much which was bad for running.

a sprinter here
always done hurdles have the school track record at my high school for 110m hurdles with a 14.2 sec.
200m = 22.1, not the fastest but not bad
10.9 split on 400x1 relay(if i remember correctly)
if it's 300m or under i'm quick as heck most of the time, my time for the 400x4 has never gotten any faster than 54.00 which isn't very faster compared to others...
have done distance running, fastest time for 3.1miles is 20min 4sec(i know pretty slow, but i'm a sprinter.....lol

Back when I was a freshman in high school I ran a 56 second 400. Not fast for high school, but fast for a freshman. As well I was a really good distance runner, but I hated it so i never trained for it. Then I had some lung problems, and can't run long distnaces as easily anymore.

Marine Corps....

We run alot but every 6 months we have to do a physical fittness test which requires a 3 mile run, pullups and crunches...

what are your normal time/reps of each?

PLOWKILL

Well every event is broken down to points. Pull ups are 5 points each and you can only get a max of 100 points (20 pullups).

Crunches are 1 point each. We get 2 mins to do a max of 100 (100 crunches 100 max points)

The 3 mile run is scored by time. But its broken down into ages for what the max time you get to complete it.

ages:
17-26, 28mins

27-39, 29mins

40-45, 30mins

to get full points the min time is 18mins for 100 points, after that every minute or something like that the score starts to drop.

Basically if you can do 20 pullups, 100 crunches in 2 mins, and run 3 miles in 18mins.... you get the max score of 300 which is perfect.

i think i can do the 100 in 2 minutes (just time is the problem, i can knock out crunches like crazy). 20 pullups and 3 miles in 18 almost...

I'm in 10th grade and im shooting for a 50 second 400m. Last year my best was 52.14. Only .44 seconds off of the school record. Hopefully i can make it to state but even if i do i'll probably only get to run qualifiers cause last year last place at state ran like a 48.5.

I ran from XC and Indoor/Outdoor Track from JR High thru College. I am now on my long, long, long break. lol. So far its been about 2 years without any real running of note. When I do run its with my wife who also ran in college, she still runs and kicks my *** (she didn't used to I swear). Mostly i ran Mid-distance and distance, but I loved me some 400m as well. I even coached for a year after college but now I'm just a blob and you know, I like being a blob.

Sprinter here.

I'm too short for distance and don't really have any stamina. I use to play soccer from elementary school till I graduated high school. Those were some good times. I played defense and forward, both of which took advantage of my speed and didn't really need me running constantly.

I also did track and field in middle school. Can't remember the times but it was a lot of fun.
