If those of you who like the first movie. Iron Man 2 is set to come out in 2010. Scarlett Johansson is going to play black widow and Mickey Rourke, will play villain Whiplash. Also will have Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. This is all leading up to The Avengers. Can't wait.

I hate mickey rourke.... He's over rated and the wrestler was hardly anything special IMO. He pretty much played himself, a burnt out old drunk with some std's and bad memories.... But Iron Man was awesome so I'm looking forward already.

yeah, i'm not a big fan of Mickey R. either. He really look like time is catching up to him. Wasn't he in Sin City?

Just out of curiosity, where did you see the announced cast? I only ask becuase it makes no sense to me why SLJ would play Nick Fury...Fury (in the comic world) is as white as it gets. SLJ is WAY too cool to play a guy like Fury. Fury is a rigid a$$hole who happens to specialize in spec ops and weaponry.

If this list is true, then I am sadly disappointed already as I hate Scarlett (my pinky has more talent than she does), and Micky R is just...blah.

In the "Ultimate" Marvel-verse, Nick Fury is black. Also, SLJ was already cast as Nick Fury in the first movie (after the credits he speaks with Tony Stark).


What gets me about this movie is the villain. Whiplash? Are you serious? Why no mention of Mandarin yet? (Though, I am under the assumption that the terrorist from the first movie was Mandarin) I mean Spider Man had Green Goblin in the first movie, Fantastic Four had Dr. Doom in their first movie, and X-Men had Magneto in theirs. Iron Man's biggest villain is Mandarin and it's bothersome that they're going for these second rate villains instead of the obvious choice.

I think Iron Man is trying to play up more the tech angle than the superpowers. So the Mandarin would not really fit with the magic and stuff. But it is a bad for the fans.

Good call on the Ultimate Cannabis, I didn't think about that, or the point where he talked with Stark. Either way, I still don't like the casting. He just doesn't fit the ideal Fury.

Yeah, Samuel L. Jackson is signed up for nine marvel movies.

Including Thor, captain america, the avengers, etc.

I agree with you, Nicholbert, I don't like that choice for Nick Fury

I saw it on Yahoo; I don't know how reliable it is? I know what you mean about Fury, you know how Hollywood sometime goes the other way with things. I think they have him for name recognition.

In fact, since the abomination of Snakes on A Plane, I have to question anything he does now. Did his agent lose a bet? Did he lost his mind? Many questions come to mind, but it's hard to see how you go from being a BAMF to what he is doing now.

I don't know who would have done Nick Fury justice...

I saw on IMDB that Sam Rockwell is slated to play Justin Hammer.
It will be interesting to see where they go from there. Hammer puppeteering Whiplash maybe?


Also, Don Cheadle is set to play Jim Rhodes. I'm not sure I like this, since it isn't the same actor that played him in the first one.

I'm sure people here got the "Ten Rings" reference from the first movie. That was the best you'll get as far as a tribute to the Mandarin character I'm sure.

I'm more surprised that Scarlett isn't going to play Black Cat. I pegged her for that role, but not the Black Widow.

The Ultimate version of Nick Fury was actually based around SLJ personality as far as I was told. There was even a window in one Ultimate comic where Iron Man, Nick Fury, and another super hero were sitting around talking about what actor would play them in a movie. Nick Fury said something like "Obviously, Samuel L. Jackson".

I believe Iron Man said Tom Cruise. Thank goodness that didn't happen.
