I knew they were working on an album but I didn't think that album would be a soundtrack, haha.

Wow this is the first I'm hearing about this. AWESOME. My friend just bought a talk box and learned Digital Love and Around the World so I've been in a Daft Punk kinda mood. I think my day just got a little brighter because of this great news.:)

Saw Daft Punk at Coachella a couple of years back. I have never seen TRON but any new music from them would be awesome.

So I woke up to my friend Tweeting about this video and, needless to say, this is all it took to make my day.

Don't want to spoil anything to everything detailing the video will be posted in black under this:
First off, how bad@$$ was that!? I think it's safe to say Daft Punk scored the song that plays in the light cycle room. It has a certain DP feel to it.

wow, thanks for the necro Spaz!
I must have missed this thread, i had NO idea a TRON sequel was in the making.
Good gawd this is gonna be epic!
Not a single one of my friends knows TRON.
It is still a cult classic that most of my 80's generation isn't even aware of.
Geekdom, i luvs it. :)
"This score is gonna be on an endless loop in my house man!"
LMAO, nice nice.

If DP don't make a cameo I will be surprised. Not to mention that it comes out Dec. 2010, we have one more Comic Con before it's released and I'm sure the next display they put on will be even better.

See, now I'm gonna have to go home and watch Tron today, lol.
I really hope this movie is done EXTREMELY well. I don't mean good, or ok, or pretty good. I mean excellent.
This is one of my childhood classics that I never want to see brought down from it's glory. If they make the sequel and it's anything less than amazing I will be extremely upset.
I'm glad they got Daft Punk to do the score, but it kinda makes me a little skeptical too. What exactly is going to be going on in this movie that requires techno music? Makes me cringe to think that it might turn out like Hackers. (Don't get me wrong, Hackers is one of my favorite classics, too.)
I just don't want this movie to turn into some blown-out-of-proportion thing. Pulling off simple epic-ness is hard, but they better do it.

heh. I know what you mean man. Basically, i think it only has a 50/50 chance.
It will be extraordinarily epic, or trashtastically crappy. Nothing in between.
Daft Punk doing the musical score isn't necessarily all techno.
They do have different styles they have done.
And if you think about it, in the virtual neon world of Tron... kinda fitting to me. lol
I will definitly be twittering/forum trolling/random pedestrian mauling for news as more is released.

The only thing I can see ruining this movie is if they don't offer a non-3D version in theatres. I'm not much of a fan of 3D since it gives me motion sickness. Most 3D movies are offered in 2D versions so I guess it's likely they will make a 2D version.
I wouldn't worry about the fact that Daft Punk is scoring it as far as ruining the movie, Platinum. Sure, the music will be electronic, but I wouldn't expect booming baselines throughout the whole movie, as is apparent in the video I posted (really chill beats). I am sure there are going to be parts of the movie with more hardcore tracks (ex. lightcycles) but I don't think it will lace the whole movie.
They have some pretty good acting talent in the movie as well: Jeff Bridges from the original movie and Olivia Wilde of House and Maxim hot 100 (#1) fame to name a few.
It is really easy for directors/producers to blow it out of proportion and overhype a movie, but they have been fairly hush-hush about it. The only trailer out is a bootleg from last year's Comicon, but I expect to hear more about it in the coming months, especially near the end of this year/beginning of next year.

I'm not sure if these guys are reading too much into it but sounds like there is a big possibility that DP will tour in support of Tron Legacy.
