I know by the simple law of averages there should be a few fantasy sports fans on the site. I am not really into them but I figure a place for people to talk about it, ask questions and give advice can't hurt.

I am curious to see how this thread develops...if at all.

Oh Shaynard, you're too cute. I will have to hop on XBL and explain to you how a fantasy league works. In a small and obscure nutshell, fantasy leagues are RPGs based on live sports statistics.

You build a team of real players, and depending on the league's settings, you acquire points based on each players performance each day, week, etc. It is effing addictive, and I have been doing it since '95.

Look around here and it should give you an idea. You form a league and each person drafts a team of pro players and use their individual game stats combined to go against other people in your league's teams.

EDIT: the reason I don't get too into it is it is crack level addictive to me and I find myself constantly tinkering with lineups and researching stats when I should be doing other stuff. It brings out all the worst parts of my sports passion, number crunching and, stat geek sides.

Your edit made me all giddy inside...I can't get enough of stats and research when playing in these leagues :D You should totally join my custom league. You will love it. It is very competetive.

I would but it really messes me up on all kinds of levels. It kills my overall productivity, it gives me conflict of interest in my sports allegiances. I have to do stuff like rooting for Jeter to go 3 for 5 with a couple RBIs but still want to have the Yankees lose. How can I pick Rivera and hope for a save and a couple Ks when that means the Yankees will win. How can I want to beat my opponent when they are starting Beckett and have a lineup with 3 Sawx in it. I end up wanting the team to win but all those players to do bad so I can win too.

Too much conflict in my head. I can't do it. :D

All I am hearing is a bunch of "waaaaahhh!" :p:D You can always trade players you can't stand to root for. And it is fun to setup all the favorable, yet mostly unlikely scenarios in your head. I will keep workin on you Maaw, I know you will crack. Give in to the Dark Side...

I only do football since you only have to worry about 1 game a week. It makes things a lot easier to manage when you don't care about baseball, and think the NBA brings the worst quality of any pro sport.

Well I will have to keep you in mind when I get my football league going next season. And I couldn't agree with you more about the NBA. I HATE the NBA, and I always shed a tear when the college season ends as I know the top talent will inevitably go Pro and become useless greedy thugs.
You're lack of care for baseball is disturbing, but to each his own ;)

I love fantasy football, but thats it.

Basketball and baseball have too many games to make it fun and exciting each week, but im part of a basketball league, Dwade and Lebron on my team ;)

I won my fantasty football league thanks to D. Williams, T. Jones and AP

I play in a league with real life friends from home and when we are all back its fun to trash talk, but I feel football is where its at
