This is a thread for Boxing news and discussion.
I was a huge boxing fan for many years but recently got bored due to what seems to be a lack of serious talent. Since the rise of MMA there has been a decline in the Boxing talent pool. It seems less people are dedicated to learn the "sweet science' that is Pro Boxing.
it seems the only Heavyweight fight that would be worth seeing is the Klitschko Bros. against eachother.. Anyone know of any hidden gems perhaps?

Not in the Heavyweight divison... All the entertaining fights are in the lower weight classes.

Who have you been following at lower weight classes?.. I am curious who, but I do agree with your statement.

Im with you on I really havnt been following boxing as much as I used to. But I do like to watch.
My favorite boxer: De la Hoya (although hes old now and needs to permanantly retire)
Then theres: Mayweather (whos talking about a come back)
Most of the good ones are about to retire like Winky Wright.
but then thers some fun ones to watch to that are still around like
the PacMan, Hatton, Cotto.
These are always good boxing matches! That are well worth the money to watch.

Mayweather jr. is amazing.. I really hope he returns to the ring.
I miss Roy Jones Jr. By the end he got too cocky, but until then the cockiness was one of the coolest things I'd seen in Boxing.. I can't think of any other fighter who straight up played with his opponent.
You are right though.. There are always entertaining boxing matches at lower weights. I think what I'm missing is guys who dominate, like Jones did...

I am a fan of any boxer in lower weight classes that is a toe to to guy. When you get 2 of them in the ring together that is when boxing is exciting for me. Even if they aren't the most skilled or tactical guys they are fun to watch.
Mayweather is amazing, but I usually don't like his fights, he really is so much better than most of the people he gets in against. Like Roy Jones Jr was for a while or early Tyson. Myaweather fights just turn into jab and move clinics for the most part.
EDIT:
My favorite fighter right now.

Speaking of jab clinics... Lennox Lewis VS Tyson... man that was funny as hell to watch. I spent $90 for that joke.

I complety agree with you on that one Maaw... But after the Del la Hoya fight with him. The fan base leaned towards Del la Hoya being the more entertaining fighter and Mayweather started changing his fighting style to a more offensive fighter. He had some pretty impressive fights after that one.

Greatest Hits.

He is a super aggressive puncher with power, and he also has a hell of a chin. He takes some insane shots and just keeps throwing.

The Pac-Man is a power house for being such a tiny package. He scares me because he looks like someone that I would meet at a bar and wouldnt be afraid to meet him outside.
Next thing you know I would be in the hospital with brain injures :D

manny is everything I would expect from a Boxer.. Skilled.. tough.. and fearless... I love that toe to toe style when done well, those small movements that avoid huge blows are facinating.

OMFG!!!!!!! YEAH!!
Lol.
I love Floyd Mayweather Jr.!!!
He should really do the comeback.
After Hatton beats Paquiao (Spell check?), I want Mayweaather and Paquiao, the Mayweather and Hatton again, as that fight was sick!
One guy you might want to check out, Shay, is Steve Molitor. He fights right out of Casino Rama, not sure where, but it's in Ontario. He is really good, but he just lost his last fight pretty badly to a better opponent.

For a while Mayweather was talking about going into MMA and how he would "beat them all". I don't think that would go well for him, at all. I really hope someone talked him out of that idea and steered him back towards boxing as his focus. I definitely want to see him in the ring again soon though.

He was challenged a few times to come over to UFC...
Because he was claiming that Boxing is the better sport that requires more skill and talent. That and that he was the best fighter out there.
He never took the challenge. Which I think was smart. Ya, he could box people down but whats he going to do once hes on the ground?
Boxing skills only go so far in MMA...

been to every one at rama so far.. My recording studio (home version) is a 5 minute walk from Rama. He is very good. Definatly outmatched in his last one. There is talk of Mayweather coming to rama as well... I would be there!!!
MMA and boxing are two completely different worlds.. I think Mayweather knows it, but it's not hurting his carrer to say he can beat them all :)
